Bulls trounce Fergus 11-0
Brussels Bulls have finished the
first third of the season with an
impressive 9 and 1 record, best in
Western Jr. C., four points ahead
of Hanover Barons.
Friday night, the Bulls travelled
to their arch rival Hanover Barons
for their second matchup of the
season. Hanover opened the scor
ing at 13:25 as Dan Neil scored on a
pass from Bruce Angel and Tony,
Wilson. The Bulls tied the game on
a power-play goal by Marty Rut
ledge from Corey McKee and Brett
Long.
Hanover regained the lead at
5:27 as Steve Beisel scored on a
pass from Dan McCormick and
Troy McCarg. Again the Bulls tied
the score with 37 seconds left in the
first period, their second power
play goal of the game off the stick
of Jason Baier on a pass from Jeff
McKee and Steve Fritz.
The second period saw only one
goal on a very fast period. Hanover
regained the lead at 7:20 on a goal
by Bill Spielmacher with assists
going to Bruce Angel and Steve
Beisel.
The Bulls came out flying in the
third and scored at 18:58 as Jeff
McKee scored on a pass off the
stick of Marty Rutledge and Steve

Sunday’s game. The Bulls outshot and outscored the Fergus
Devils stampeding to an 11-0 victory. This win has the Bulls
finishing thefirst third of the season with an impressive 9 and
one record.
Fritz. The newly-acquainted line
scored the game winner at 11:59 as
Steve Fritz scored from Marty
Rutledge and Corey McKee to
round out the scoring. Jeff Roy
played ah excellent game in goal
for the Bulls as they were outshot
40-28 by the Barons.
Sunday afternoon the Bulls had
their hat day with the first 100
people receiving a free Bulls hat.
Two hundred people showed up;to
see the first place Bulls destroy the
Fergus Devils 11-0.
Bulls opened the scoring on a
goal by rookie left winger Jeff
McKee on a pass from defensive
partners Joe Walker and Jason
Baier at 12:00 a power play marker.
At 5:19 Jeff Jewitt scored his
first goal of the year on a pass from
Greg McNevan and Joe Walker.
Sixteen seconds later Jason Baier
scored on a pass from Shawn
Chipchase. Bevin Flett closed out
the scoring of the first on a pass
from Marty Rutledge and Steve
Fritz at 3:52. The Bulls ended the
first period outscoring Fergus 4-0
and outshooting the opposition
15-4.
Steve Fritz scored a power play
marker at 8:15 from Joe Walker
and Marty Rutledge. Forty seconds
later Brian Zabel scored on a pass
from Jeff Jewitt and Greg Mc
Nevan. Brett Long scored at 1:53
on a pass from Joe Walker and Ron
Strome at 1:53. With 1:18 remain
ing in the second Steve Fritz scored
his second goal of the game from
Marty Rutledge and Jeff McKee.
Jeff McKee notched his second
of the game from Rutledge and
Flett with 59 seconds remaining in
the second. The second ended, like
the first with the Bulls leading 9-0
and outshooting Fergus 35-12 after
40 minutes.
Marty Rutledge notched his 10th
goal of the year on a pass from
Steve Fritz and Jeff McKee at 9:02.
The Bulls final goal came at 5:32 off
the stick of defenceman Steve
Michie as he rushed end to end and
blasted a shot past Fergus goalie to
round out the Bulls rampage of
11-0.
Scott Thede recorded the shutout
turning 18 shots aside. The Bulls
have signed veteran 20-year-old
Jeff Douglas who played with the
Bulls for the last half of last season
and will wear No. 15 for the Bulls
this season. The Bulls coaching
staff hope Jeff’s experience and
toughness will add to the Bulls
arsenal. The Bulls have two road
trips this week as they travel to
Grand Valley Saturday night and
travel to Wingham on Sunday
afternoon at 1 p.m.

Novice team
ties Goderich
The Blyth Novice B’s opened
their schedule on Sat., Nov. 3 in
Goderich and played to a 2-2 tie.
Goderich scored late in the first
period to open the scoring. Blyth
got a goal from Adam Anderson on
a pass from Shawn Bromley to tie
the score midway through the
second period.
Goderich again took the lead
with a goal two minutes into the
third period, but David Ansley
scored, assisted by Rick Van Stee-
landt with seven minutes to go to
tie the game at two. Although Blyth
was outshot, Tyler Stewart played
well in the Blyth net. Members of
this year’s team are Ross Clark,
David Ansley, Dean Wilson, Rick
Van Steelandt, Joel Arthur, Adam
Anderson, Mike Lyons, Nathan
Shannon, Graham Wrosell, Shawn
Bromley and Tyler Stewart.
