Blyth.
People
Many Blyth villagers have gazed
upon the unique Hallowe’en dis
play in Jim and Thelma Wilson’s
Health and Gift Centre’s window
during the last week or two and
they will have a chance to repeat
the opportunity until this Friday.
Hallowe’en seems to be growing
in popularity in a season and and
environment that lends itself to
originality the source of which is
the brain, and creativity that
develops with the pen, brush,
needle, saw and shovel, etc. One
might go as far as mentioning
rubber boots: “How can one collect
lush cattails, otherwise?’’ Jim
asks.
Gazing upward, one beholds a
full moon looking down on cattails,
a rail fence, and a cedar shrub dug
from Thelma’s father’s farm and
placed in earth. As soon as
possible, it will be carefully re
planted in its accustomed spot,
because conservation is now the
order of the day. Two tree stumps
with live ferns make an effective
display as do sprays of rosehips
and wild cranberries which add a
faint bit of colour.
What about the little creatures?
They are also present.
One detects a spider or two in a
mesh of cobwebs. If Hallowe’en
conjures up a picture of a snake for
a person, he will be delighted to
find four, as well as four bats in
flight. Even mice are not forgotten.
A perfect base for the entire
scene is a bed of autumn maple
leaves.
The Wilsons are making a name
for themselves in the art of
decorating. The Clinton Square
Dance Club, of which they are
active members, can vouch for
that. Blyth, is proud of the accom
plishments of this ambitious
couple.
