Balloon lands at Westfield On Saturday, October 13 around 5 p.m. while unloading baled hay from the wagon in the barn of Kenneth and Murray Snell of RR 3, Blyth, saw a balloon flying over head. They continued to watch it and saw that it was descending very swiftly. They were sure it came down in the swamp behind their buildings. Kenneth and Murray took the tractor and front loader and went back to the swamp to see what they could find. The balloon was lodged about 40 feet up in a poplar tree and they could not reach it from the tactor and loader - so returned to the drive shed for the ladder. Attached to the balloon were six post cards fastened with white ribbon. The balloon was released near Oxford, Michigan (Oxford is southwest of Flint), and the mess age on the post cards read as follows: “We were married Oct. 13, 1990 near Oxford, Michigan. In honour of the occasion a guest released this balloon. Please return this card telling when and where it was found and also who found it.” Kenneth and Murray have mail ed the post cards and are awaiting a reply as to what time the balloon was released on October 13 from Oxford.
