Auburn 4H members judge muffins

Special music part of
Knox anniversary service
Rev. Paul Ross conducted the
order of service at Knox United
Church Anniversary Service and
Nancy Park was organist. Guest
minister was Rev. Dave Woodall.
The Londesboro United Church
worshipped with us. Organ Prelude
by Don Vair.
Rev. Ross gave the Call to
Worship and Prayer of Approach.
Hymn, “Praise My Soul The King
of Heaven” was sung. Rev. Woo
dall told the children’s story.
Prayer of Confession and Assur
ance of Pardon was given, followed
by Choral Response, “Your Serv
ants of God” was sung.
Rev. Ross read scripture from
Matthew. Don and Mary Vair sang,
“Count Your Blessings” accom
panied by Don. Rev. Woodall read
scripture from Matthew. Don Vair
played two rousing hymns on the
organ, “Stand Up For Jesus” and
“Onward Christian Soldiers”.
Rev. David Woodall’s sermon
was entitled “An Expectation of
Being”. The anthem, “The Old
Rugged Cross was sung by Don
and Mary Vair followed by prayer

chorus.
The offering was received
Peter Verbeek, Gordon Gross,
Murray Rollinson and Brian Gross
and Sunday School offering was
brought forward by Tracy Millian
and Tammy Middelkamp and dedi
cated.
Closing hymn “We’ve a story to
tell to the nations” was sung. Rev.
Ross pronounced the Benediction
and the response “Now Thank we
all our God” concluded the service.
Soup and sandwiches and bever
age was served after the service
downstairs, provided by the Sun
day School.

Auburn’s third meeting of the
4H “Our Heritage” project was
held at the Auburn library on
Monday, October 1. The meeting
was opened with the 4H pledge,
then the members worked on their
books. They also judged muffins,
store bought, also from scratch,
and a mix. All of the muffins were
bran. Most of the members judged
the muffins from scratch as number
one (the best).
Auburn 4H “Our Heritage”
group selected its new name,
“Heritage Haunters”.
Auburn’s fourth meeting of the
4H “Our Heritage” club was held
at the home of Helen Lapp on
Tuesday, October 9.
The meeting was opened with
the 4H pledge. The new club name
is Heritage Haunters, which was
the idea of engaborg van Eeden
Petersman. Then the members
judged apples to find out which
apple was the newest to Ontario. It
was delicious. The next meeting
will be held on Monday, October

Thanksgiving WMS theme
The Thanksgiving meeting of the
Auburn Presbyterian W.M.S. was
held at the home of the president
Martha Daer. She welcomed mem
bers and guests, the Rev. Nichol
son and Mrs. Nicholson of Goder
ich.
The Thanksgiving service, Joy
Prayer and Thankfulness was fol
lowed by The Glad Tidings which
included hymns, scripture readings
and prayers.
Rev. Nicholson gave an inspiring
message on the subject “The
Grace of Gratitude which ended in
prayer.
The business part of the meeting
was conducted and the closing
prayer given. The next meeting will
be at the home of Erma Cartwright.

Bible Study and Prayer Group
will meet Tuesday afternoon at 1:30
at the home of Maria Bergsma.

Correction
In last week’s article on Meals-
on-Wheels it was noted that sup
plies are brought from Listowel
Hospital and then taken to the
Community Centre to be prepared.
It is actually only paper supplies
that come from the Hospital while,
Meals-on-Wheels co-ordinator
