There were eight teams participa­ ting and first place went to Neil Cockwell and Ken Buchanan, second place Russell and Jean McGuire, and third Jim Smith and Bill Beirnes. Monday evening was the beginn­ ing of the new euchre season and Brenda Boyer and Helen Cullen were the hosts for the Hall Board. Eight tables were in play. Win­ ners were: high lady, Eva Harrow; low ladies, Edna Adam and Helen Alexander; high man, Ross Steph­ enson; low man, Scott McLean; most lone hands, Lois Hart and Jim Smith; Tally card draw, Iona Sub­ ject, Marjorie and Harold Metcalfe, Violet Smith, Mac Smith, Thelma Keffer, Dorothy Dilworth, Jean Rolof, Joe Cooper, Lois McLean, Jim Cooper, and Bill Dobson. Plans were made to attend the area convention in Atwood on October 25 and Doris Jacklin will be the voting delegate. Helen Dobson brought her report from the District Directors meeting. The next meeting will be held at the home of Thelma Keffer at 8:15 p.m. on October 16 with Thelma giving a travelogue of her summer trip to Alaska. Hazel Murre has returned to Thunder Bay after spending three weeks visiting with her sister Marge Keffer. Congratulations to Lyle Martin and Jean Mathers for being recipi­ ents of the Huron County Junior Farmers Rural Leadership award. Lyle is a dairy farmer and involved in ecological farming prac­ tises. Jean is a staunch Women’s Institute member and is a strong promoter of Institute work. The Senior Youth Group will meet Thursday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. for a game of flags. If you don’t know where to go phone either Paul or Grace Potter. There will be no Service or Sunday School next Sunday. The congregation will be worshipping with Knox United Church in Au­ burn for their anniversary. The Sacrament of Baptism will be held on October 28. The worship and music committee will meet Wednesday, October 10 at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School room.
