Phone 526-7589 Knox United holds special Thanksgiving service Mr. William Anderson of New­ market spent Thanksgiving week­ end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Craig and family of St. Jacobs spent the weekend at their trailer home and visited their families. Lucknow. Sunday with her daughter and Mrs. Gertrude Park of Maple son-in-law, Mildred and Tom Law- Grove Lodge of Goderich spent lor. The Church was beautifully de­ corated with vegetables, flowers and fruit as Rev. Paul Ross conducted the Thanksgiving and Communion service and Mrs. Greg Park was organist and Mrs. Gordon Gross as pianist. Rev. Ross gave the Call to Worship and Prayer of Approach. The hymn, “Rejoice the Lord is King’’ was sung. Linda Plaetzer had Sunday School teachers and pupils come to the front and place their hands on a tree and spoke on Thanksgiving and Missions. Rev. Ross read scriptures. Kevin Webster sang a solo accompanied by his mother Karen on the piano. Rev. Ross gave the meditation “I Give Thanks’’. The hymn “Jesus Thou Joy of Loving Hearts’’ was sung. The sacrament of Holy Communion took place. The offering was received by Brian Gross, Gordon Gross and the Sunday School collection was brought forward by Janice Marie Young and Tracy Millian and dedicated. The hymn “We plough the fields and scatter” was sung. Rev. Ross pronounced the Benedic­ tion and the response “Now Thank we All our God” concluded the service. Senior Youth Group will meet Thursday, October 11 from 7-9 p.m. for a game of flags. Next Sunday Knox will celebrate its Anniversary. Dave Woodall, minister of Ontario Street United Church, Clinton will be guest preacher. The Sacrament of Baptism will be conducted on Sunday, October 28. Congratulations to Karen Whet­ stone and Hank Blok who were married on Friday, September 28 in Goderich. Best of luck Bob and Teresa. Sympathy is extended to Berna­ dette and Bill Andrews and family on the death of her mother, Mrs. Leddy last week. Visitors on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hallam were his mother Mrs. Hallam and his brother Roy of Dart league starts Moil BY SANDRA JOSLING The Legion mixed dart league has changed to Monday nights. The new league will begin Monday, ‘ Ictober 15 at 8 p.m. Anyone interested may contact the Legion (887-6562) after 4 p.m. On Saturday, October 20 there will be a Pipeband Ceilidh featur­ ing the Norm Dunsmore orchestra. Dancing will commence at 9 p.m. Admission is $6 per person. Every­ one is welcome. On Friday, October 26 there will be a Halloween pub night. The haunting will start at 8 p.m. You can wear a costume or come as you are. Everyone is welcome. Membership dues are now being accepted for 1991. If paid prior to November 30 there is an early bird discount.
