Fall colour tour at Wawanosh Valley Sunday
On Sunday, September 30 the
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority will host the annual Fall
Colour Tour at Wawanosh Valley
Conservation Area from 1 to 4 p.m.
Admission is free.
The Fall Colour Tour gives
visitors a chance to experience the
vibrant sights and sounds of au
tumn. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy
spotting migrating birds which
have stopped to rest and feed at
Wawanosh. For wildflower lovers,
the ample summer rains have filled
Wawanosh with a profusion of fall
wildflowers. The meadows abound
with several species of asters,
Queen Anne’s Lace and Chicory.
The 1990 Fall Colour Tour will
feature horse-drawn wagon rides
throughout the afternoon. Conser
vation Authority staff will also be
leading walks along the Maitland
River and outlining how plants and
animals prepare for winter. As
usual, visitors are welcome to
explore the trails at Wawanosh on
their own.
Visitors are also invited to enjoy
a cup of hot apple cider at the
Wawanosh Nature Centre (please
bring your own mug). MVCA
displays on rural waste manage
ment will be set up in the nature
centre along with nature crafts and
games for children. The Wawanosh
