The Citizen, 1990-09-19, Page 3Arena bd. asks for loan for tractor purchase The municipalities supporting the Blyth and District Community Centre have been asked to loan the Centre’s board the money to pur chase a new tractor for ice clean ing. Blyth Village Council Wednes day night approved a loan for its 31 per cent share of the estimated $20,000 cost. Councillor Dave Lee, one of the Blyth representatives on the board, said the arena board had felt the least expensive way to finance the purchase was to get a loan from the municipalities. The board hopes to get donations from groups to help pay for the tractor, he said. Two of the four other municipalities had approved loans for their share as of last week’s council meeting. The old tractor was so trouble some that something had to be done, Councillor Lee said. “Last year we paid as much for repairs as we could have bought a tractor,” he said. Meanwhile Councillor Lee offered to loan a tractor to the arena until a new tractor can be bought. He said that the arena board had looked at a reconditioned Zamboni- type ice cleaner at about the same cost as the tractor but couldn’t get assurances from the company re presentative that it would be able to fit into the tighter corners in the Blyth arena.
