A resident of Brussels since she
attended public school, Mrs. White
has strong feelings about the
village. Her major reason for
accepting the position was out of
concern for stability. She feels that
with the faces of governments from
municipal to federal, changing so
frequently, it is important for
municipalities to have some consis
tency. “I live here and I plan on
being here forever,” she said.
About Council, Mrs. White says
she hopes to work with the same
faces after the November ’91
municipal election. “I think they
have a lot of good ideas to keep
Brussels growing and thriving. We
realize it can only grow within its
potential, but, Council has done a
good job of looking at Brussels’
future. And they seem to have a
good idea of the thoughts of the
people.”
As a resident herself, Mrs.
White said she is representative of
the people. “Living here I worry
about the same things. 1 pay taxes
and I care about what is happening.
Now, I am glad to be given the
opportunity to serve my municipali

Reflecting on his time in Brus

the village and the residents he has
come to know so well. He has been
an integral part of the community
since moving here having been
actively involved in both minor ball
and hockey as a player and a coach.
He is also a member of the
Optimist Club. “I consider Brus
sels my home. I have met a lot of
really good close friends and I’ll be
back. You can’t get rid of me that
easily,” he finished.

Brussels boys in Scouting have
enjoyed many successful years.
Most of the credit belongs to the
dedicated leaders but part is due to
the official sponsors, Brussels
Lions and Optimist Clubs and to
timely assistance from the Legion,
Foresters and Allan Teeft (EMA).
The leaders hope to continue
offering a worthwhile and reward
ing program this year. Anyone who
wants to help should call Agnes
