From the Minister's Study God cares about our loneliness BY DON VAIR Possibly as you read this article in The Citizen, you are alone and lonely. Maybe as the dictionary puts it you are “sad from being alone.’’ Loneliness is something all human beings understand experi entially. When I think of loneliness I do not immediately think of my speci fic experiences, but rather of certain people in society for whom loneliness can be part and parcel of everyday living. I think of the elderly person whose family is grown and away from home and whose life-long mate has died. Not only has this individual lost husband or wife, but most of their dearest friends have gone as well. I think of some single people who have longed for the companionship of marriage and family but for one reason or another, it just was not to be. I think of the man who is separated from his wife and family for long periods of time because of the nature of his work. I think also of the loneliness of the one who is separated or divorced. Most people try in practical ways to do something about loneliness, be it theirs or someone else’s. We visit one another, we belong to certain organizations and clubs, we shower attention upon a belov ed pet. Some people resort to alcohol or even sacrifice moral principles for a fleeting moment of companionship that is false. Some ways of dealing with our loneliness are practical and right, but some are wrong and only complicate and intensify the pro blem. God understands and cares about your loneliness and your life, far more than you will ever know. Nothing can ever take the place or Couple weds in Brussels ceremony PIPE - PARKER Melville Presbyterian Church was the setting when Murray Pipe and Tara Parker exchanged wedd ing vows on July 21, 1990. Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal officiated at the ceremony. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pipe of RR 4, Brussels, while the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Parker of Brussels. The maid-of-honour for the occa sion was a friend of the bride, Rose Marks of Brussels. Her brides maids were:, her sisters Lisa, Lara, and Lori Parker, all of Brussels; Carol TenPas and Melinda Hamil ton, also of Brussels, Ruth Watts of Clinton and Susan Wilhelm of Belmore. Kendall Jutzi of Brussels was flower girl. The groom was attended by his best man, Kevin Kellington of Brussels; Ushers included the groom’s brothers Gary and Neil Pipe; Tim Fritz, Paul Thompson, Doug Shaw and Verne Bridge, all of Brussels, and Dan Wilkens of Woodstock. Ringbearer was Cody compare with the companionship of God and Christ Jesus. Our hearts were made for Him and Him alone. Jesus Christ is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. You cannot be separated from Him by death, for He ever lives. When all is said and done, the grace of Jesus Christ is sufficient for all of your life. Having said the above, one does not seek the companionship of Christ just because he/she is lonely. One comes to Jesus because he recognizes that he is a sinner, and need Him to be their Saviour. There is power in His bloodshed on Calvary’s cross to forgive, cleanse and fill our hearts with His matchless presence. In Revelation 3:20 Jesus said “Behold I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him and he with me.’’ To those who do open their heart’s door and welcome the Saviour in, He says to you what He said to His disciples long ago in Matthew 28:22 ... “Lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the age.’’ Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Isabelle Craig of RR 2, Blyth were married September 16, 1950 at Cranbrook Presbyterian Church. The Bender family presented several inspiring musical numbers after which Sandy gave the mess age. Only when on plunges in and devotes himself completely to Christian living does he see real results -- just as effective swimm ing is only feasible in deeper water.
