Ross conducts Rally Sunday service Rev. Paul Ross conducted Rally Sunday Service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organ­ ist. The service began with a hymn­ sing especially for the children as Sunday School commenced again. Rev. Ross gave the Call to Worship. Linda Plaetzer introduc­ ed the Sunday School teachers at the front and spoke about their helpers. The hymn “I heard the voice of Jesus say” was sung. The sermon was entitled “Christian Education - Not Just for Kids”. Rev. Ross gave the prayer of Thanksgiving and Concern and The Lord’s Prayer was said in unison. The offering was received by E. Wawanosh Ken Ramsey and Murray Rollin- son. The closing hymn “Lead on O King Eternal” was sung. Rev. Ross pronounced the Benediction and the response “Now Thank We All Our God” ended the service. Senior Youth Group will begin its fall activities with a weekend camp at Point Farms on September 21 - 23. Anyone interested please speak to Rev. Ross or Grace Buttars as soon as possible. Bible Study will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 1:30, p.m. at the home of Jean Plaetzer and will be pursuing a study of women of the Bible. The United Church Women will hold their meeting on Monday, September 17 at 8 p.m. at the church and Paul Ross will be speaking. People Visitors on Tuesday with Mrs. Beth Lansing were Mrs. Bert Allin and her daughter Barbara of Agin­ court and her Sunday visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Lome Peter of Kincardine. The September meeting of the Women’s Institute will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 2 p.m. and will be Fun Day. Bring a friend. The roll call will be “Intro­ duce Your Friend.” The Horticulture Society’s 40th anniversary will be held at the community hall on September 12. There will be a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. Meat and dessert will be supplied but members are asked for other casseroles or salads, etc. There will be a photo display of flowers. Lome and Evelyn Popp have returned home after a trip to the East Coast including Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I. and Cape Breton Island along Cabot Trail and going down into the mines in Springhill, N.S. and the Anne Murray Centre. They travell­ ed in Maine along Coast to Ottawa, the Parliament Buildings and Nia­ gara Falls. This would be accessory to agriculture. After some discussion Council decided to seek legal advisement before making a final decision. Ratepayers will be notified as to the result. An amendment to zoning from East Wawanosh for Part Lot 42, Cone. 8, was accepted by Council. The property is a house purchased by the township in Belgrave and the rezoning is from Residential to Institutional. Building permits were issued to: Ross Smith, Lot 37, Plan 500 attached garage and breezeway; Fred Meier Jr., Part Lot 42, Cone. 6, steel granary; Paul Chamney, Part Lot 30, Cone. 6, workshop and garage. Council is applying for a new recreation facility grant under the Community Recreation Capital Pro­ gram 1991-92. This is for the new front on the Belgrave Community ^Centre. Tl* A meeting was held with the winter help crew to discuss this year’s wages. The matter was deferred to the September 19 meeting. Council gave approval to Main­ land Engineering Services to install foot valves at the landfill site for monitoring purposes. A by-law was passed authorizing street lights and billing for the Humphrey subdivision. Council petitioned for interim payment under the Public Trans­ portation and Highway Improve­ ment Act on expenditures made to date for this year. That total is $394,527. Council decided to cut off water to lots in the Humphrey subdivision where payment is four months in arrears. Cost is $10 for cutoff and $10 to turn back on. It was decided that Snell Inves­ tors will be charged $20 per hour for supervision on the work at the proposed Snell subdivision.
