HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1990-08-22, Page 21Obituaries TODD RICE Todd Rice of Brussels, died suddenly on Sunday, August 12, 1990, the victim of an automobile accident. He was in his 18th year. Todd was to enter Grade 12 at F. E. Madill Secondary School in the fall. Popular and athletic, Todd was catcher for Brussels Midget Boy’s Softball team. Last spring he received the Don Higgins Memor­ ial Trophy for the top goaltender at the minor hockey banquet. He was planning to try out this year for the Brussels Bulls at the upcoming training camp. Todd was the beloved son of Larry and Colleen Rice and dear brother of Shannon. Also left to mourn him are his grandparents Jack and Berva Rice of Cambridge and Al and Ruth Elliott of Toronto. Todd rested at Betts Funeral Home in Brussels until the funeral last Wednesday afternoon, August 15. Rev. David Fuller officiated at the service. Pallbearers were: Blaine McCut­ cheon, Darwin McCutcheon, Terry McCutcheon, Scott Cardiff, Steve Wheeler and Peter Steer. Honorary pallbearers were: Dan Severman, Greg Wheeler and Andrew McCut­ cheon. Flower bearers were: Scott Johnston, Brian McArter, Greg Mulvey, Shawn Jacklin, Steve Mc­ Cutcheon and Brian Alexander. Interment took place at Brussels Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to Brussels Minor Sports. NEIL PIPE A tragic automobile accident ended the life of 18-year-old Neil Pipe of Brussels on Sunday, August 12, 1990. A recent graduate of F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham, Neil was the beloved son of John and Edith Pipe of RR 4, Brussels. A fine athlete, Neil played shortstop on the Brussels Midget Boys Softball team. He was the beloved brother of Murray and his wife Tara and Gary, all of Brussels. He will be dearly missed by his grandmothers Freda Pipe and Pearl Snow, both of Brussels and by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held at Betts Funeral Home in Brussels at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers were: Bruce Hamilton, Paul Mut­ ter, Don Laurie, Wayne Lowe and Wayne Jacklin. Eleven members of Neil’s ball team acted as honorary pallbearers. Flower bearers were: John Lowe, John Steffler, Blair Davidson and Steve Fritz. Interment at Brussels Cemetery followed the service. Donations to Brussels Minor Ball would be appreciated as expres­ sions of sympathy. SCOTT BREMNER The community was saddened to hear of the death of Scott Bremner, of Brussels, the victim of a car accident on Sunday, August 12, 1990. He was in his 19th year. An avid athlete, he was involved in various sports during most of his life.
