West Wawanosh gives to ball park West Wawanosh council at its August 7 meeting agreed to enter into an agreement with Ashfield Township and the Dungannon Agricultural Society to provide new lights for the Dungannon ball park next year. Council agreed to set aside $6,000 in the 1991 budget for the project, approximately one-sixth of the cost. The agreement is pending the approval of a one-third grant from the Province of Ontarjo. Council also approved prepara­ tion of a by-law authorizing the township to enter into an agree­ ment with Ashfield and the Agri­ cultural Society for leasing the ball diamond and parking facilities Voters list revisions being made Voters’ lists revisions for Ontario’s 35th provincial general election will take place between August 16 and September 5. The election will be held on September 6, 1990. Qualified electors who were not enumerated may have their names added during the revision period up to and including the day preceding election day. Additions, corrections and deletions from the preliminary lists of electors, pre­ pared following the door to door enumeration, may also be made at this time. Urban electors must have their names on the list of electors or on a certificate to vote. The Returning Officer or a revision assistant will provide such a certificate to people to dig another trench at the township landfill site sometime in October. A contractor is to be hired to flush the drain at the corner of Loftus and Elgin Sts. in Auburn. Building permits were issued to Groenberg Farms (shed); R. J. LaMarre (shed extension); Steve Alton (house); Hank VanDrop (shed); Ralph Matthews (granary); Lome Fraser, (granary); Henry Stutzman, (barn); Ernst Tafeit (shed); Wm. and Naomi Vodden (house); Joe Hanna (shed) and Robert Woods, (shed extension). General accounts of $24,970.43 and road accounts of $76,429.06 were approved for payment. added to the list following the enumeration period. These electors must present their certificate at their polling place to receive a ballot and vote. On election day, rural electors not on the list may still vote, provided they take an oath and are accompanied by an elector who is on the list in that same polling division and who will vouch for them. Electors whose names are not on the list should contact the Return­ ing Officer in their electoral dis­ trict. Revisions to the list will be reviewed by the Returning Officer during posted office hours. The office of the Returning Officer can be easily identified through the display of the Elections within the Dungannon Agricultural Park. Reeve Cecil Cranston and Councillor David Errington were appointed township representa­ tives in the negotiations to draft an agreement for use and mainten­ ance of the ball diamond. The tender of Marquardt- Williams Drainage was accepted for construction of the Andrews- Finnigan Municipal Drain Improve­ ment and Extension at a cost of $68,566.37 subject to the engineer getting a price from the contractor for boring the road crossing on Concession Road 4/5. Clerk-treasurer Joan Armstrong was authorized to hire Robert Nicholson Construction Company Ontario sign. Elections Ontario advertise­ ments, in daily and weekly news­ papers throughout the province, will provide numbers to call for election information. Directory As­ sistance will also be able to provide the telephone number of the re­ turning office, when asked for Elections Ontario and the name of the electoral district. Persons eligible to vote in this election must be at least 18 years of age on election day, a Canadian citizen at the time of voting, and a resident of Ontario for the six month period prior to election day. Their names must be on the list of electors or on a certificate to vote for the electoral district where they reside. Amber Underwood was Festival Board member A well-known Western Ontario woman and member of the Board of Directors of Blyth Festival, Mrs. Amber Underwood of RR 1, Wing­ ham, passed away suddenly at Goderich on Friday, August 17, one day before her 33rd birthday as a result of a traffic accident. The former Amber Louise Gib­ bons, Mrs. Underwood was born at Simcoe on August 18, 1957 and married Nelson Underwood of RR 1, Wingham on March 30, 1985, at Waterford. She had graduated from elementary and secondary schools in Waterford and earned her Bachelor of Science in Agricul­ ture degree, as well as a Master of Science, Ex. Ed., degree at the University of Guelph. Active in several organizations which promoted the quality of life in rural Ontario, Amber was involv­ ed in 4H work and Junior Farmers. She served as Editor of AIS Communications and was Manager of Program Development with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. At the time of her death, she was editor of The Rural Voice. She was also a faithful member of the Wingham United Church and the United Church Women. A patron of the arts, she also served on the board of directors of the Blyth Festival. Amber’s passing is being mourn­ ed by her husband, Nelson, of RR 1, Wingham. She was the loving mother of four-month-old Kate; dear daughter of Mrs. Irene Gib­ bons of RR 3, Brantford; loved sister of Marilyn and Reg Peacock, RR 3, Simcoe; Murray and Carol Gibbons, RR 1, Wilsonville and Robert Gibbons, Guelph; daughter- in-law of George and Helen Under­ wood, RR 1, Wingham and sister- in-law of Susan Underwood of Baden; John and Susan Under­ wood, RR 1, Wingham; Kathy and Gary Adams, Owen Sound and Aileen Underwood, Toronto, Ont. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Gibbons. Friends paid their respects Sun­ day afternoon and evening at the McBurney Funeral Home, Wing­ ham. Her minister, Rev. J. Rea Grant, conducted funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Wingham United Church, followed by inter­ ment in Wingham Cemetery. Pall­ bearers were Mike O’Shea, Elgin Craig, John Underwood, Jim Parke, Tom Pate and Dave Walker. Floral tributes were carried by Aaron Peacock, Eddie Gibbons and Todd Gibbons.
