There are dangers to that, dangers of public opinion being stampeded in a kind of mob rule, but there are lots of dangers the other way too, dangers we get something alto gether different than we thought we were getting for our vote. There will be plenty of opposition to any change from the current system but it would be silly if people didn’t start looking at the possibilities of making democracy really democratic. to smell the flowers tickets, children: $4.00; “Glad Days” are here! As well as Glad Days the Clinton Raceway will be holding a RACE DAY FOR EPILEPSY with a barbe cue on Sunday, August 19 imme diately following the races. Ad vance adults: $8.00; which can be pur chased through the Epilepsy office. Epilepsy is the second most common neurological disorder. In population studies it falls only behind the headache in terms of frequency. Epilepsy is in fact more common than brain injury, low back pain, stroke, sleep disorders, cerebral palsy, dementia, Parkin sonism, nqck pain, Multiple Sclero sis and spinal cord injury. Epilepsy is a symptom of a disorder of the brain. It is not a disease. Seizures take many forms. They can range from momentary lapses of attention, marked by only a blink or random movement, to convulsions. Most importantly for most people Epilepsy can be treat ed, permitting many to lead normal lives. Sadly Epilepsy can carry with it a host of emotional and social pro blems - misunderstanding and rejection by family and friends, inability to get a job, insecurity, anger, frustration - are often more difficult to handle than the actual seizure disorder itself.
