Phone 887-6677 Monkton Ladies ‘A’ champs The Walton Ladies Slo-Pitch Tournament was continued this past weekend at the Walton ball park. Six games were completed on the weekend of July 13 and 14 and then the rest of the games were delayed because of rain. The remaining games of the tournament were played on Saturday, July 28. The Monkton ladies were the “A” Championship winners defeating the Goderich Oldtimers. The Bos­ ley’s Bruisers were the *‘B” cham­ pions defeating the Mitchell ladies in the final. Game results were as follows: Friday, July 13, Seaforth Swingers No service at Duffs 10, Bosley’s Bruisers 7; Goderich Oldtimers 19, Manley Ladies 7; Monkton Ladies 27, Brodhagen Bandettes 3. Saturday, July 14: St. Mary’s Canadian Tire Cardinals 12, Mit­ chell Ladies 4; Bosley’s Bruisers 12, Manley Ladies 2; Goderich Oldtimers 2, Seaforth Swingers 0. Saturday, July 28: Mitchell Ladies 7, Brodhagen Bandettes 4; Monkton Ladies 4, St. Mary’s Cardinals 1. In the “B” Final: Bosley’s Bruisers defeated Mitchell Ladies 5 - 3. In the “A” Final, Monkton Ladies defeated Goderich Oldtim­ ers 6 - 0. Nov. 28 has been set for the preliminary hearing into charges against three people charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession for the purposes of trafficking. Larry Park and Jayne Park of RR 2, Wingham and Brian C. Mighton, RR 1, Clifford were remanded until that date when they appeared in provincial court in Wingham Wed­ nesday. The trio were charged after police raided a farm in Tumberry Township on May 17, seizing a large amount of marijuana growing in an indoor plot. Five people were remanded until August 22 for plea when they appeared in connection with another drug bust that took place June 22 in Howick Township. Paul Arthur Jackson and his wife Sharon Jackson, RR 1, Wroxeter were each charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking as well as simple possession of the drug after police raided their home and seized $19,000 worth of cocaine in addi­ tion to quantities of hash, hash oil, money and drug paraphenilia. Also appearing was John Leslie Jackson of WasagirBeach charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and Maria Anderson McClurkin, also of Wasaga Beach charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and simple possession. Tom Wiggins of Collingwood was charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking. A sixth man, Robert William Smith had Oct. 24 set as the date for his preliminary trial on charges related to the same incident. Clint and Judy Emmrich, Jamie and Katie arrived home Saturday from a week’s holiday camping at St. Augusta, Ohio. Prank costs r Grey man $100 A drunken prank cost a Grey township man a $100 fine when he pleaded guilty in Court in Wing­ ham Wednesday. Richard Kenneth Schnock plead­ ed guilty to setting off a false fire alarm. The court was told at about 12:50 a.m. on June 9 Mr. Schnock was in the hall of the Brussels Hotel and pulled the fire alarm. He then went back and sat down at a table while the alarm continued to sound. The management realized what had happened and the fire department was not called. Mr. Schnock told Judge R.G.E. Hunter that he was drunk at the time and he realized immediately it was a mistake. “I never did anything like it before and will never do it again.” The judge fined him $100 or 10 days in jail.
