Twenty-five attending were from Barrie, Orangeville, Toronto, Glencoe, Lis- towel and Acton. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Muilwyk of Trenton, Mrs. Peter Hoonaard of RR 3, Walton and Mrs. Helen Martin, Belgrave visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse Thursday evening, July 12. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Nixon, Michelle and Kyle, RR 5, Wing­ ham, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nixon, Tyler and Corey, Cambridge; Randy Nixon, Hamilton; and Mrs. Olive Bolt, Belgrave were supper guests on Sunday, July 15 with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winter, Formosa. Mrs. Agnes Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walker, Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse were dinner guests on Sunday, July 15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sproule of Bayfield. Mrs. Garner Nicholson visited recently with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Glyn Wide and family of Hamilton. They also visited with Mrs. Myra Weber (Glyn’s grandmother) from South Wales. Mr. and Mrs. Tom May and Sara of Mississauga spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Sara Ander­ son. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taff of London and Mrs. Sharon Mitchell of Han­ over spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Vin­ cent. 19 and he wants to bring her 15 year old sister from the Philippines so he can marry her. Well, said Tim, the guy may be a bit wasteful with wives but at least he believes in recycling. He’s married three of them twice each. He also keeps two wedding dresses in his closet in different sizes so there will always be one handy. “When you might be only married for 63 days why invest too much in a wedding,” Julia said. I've talked to lately, people who abhor violence, were cheering for the Mohawks at Oka who took up arms to keep developers from cutting down a forest they con­ sidered their land, just to build a golf course. After 200 years of frustration the Canadian natives are saying “enough is enough”. I wonder if it will take 200 years for the rest of us to get that frustrated by the manipulation and double talk. Bentley reunion held The 69th Bentley Reunion of the descendents of George and Mary Webster Bentley, who came from Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, in 1843 and settled in Blanshard Township, Perth County, was held on Sunday, July 15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent, Belgrave. The prize for the senior lady went to Mrs. Isabelle Baird of Mitchell and the prize for the senior man went to Clarence Swit­ zer of Kirkton. The visitors from the farthest distance were Mrs. Mirie Willson and her son Edwin from Plymouth, Devon, England. Relatives attended from Port Elgin, Mitchell, Stratford, Kirkton, St. Marys and Belgrave. Next year’s reunion will be held in Mitchell Lions Park, Mitchell, July 14, 1991. Early bird winners announced The Wingham and District Com­ munity Living Association held the Early Bird draw June 29, 1990 for the Annual Lottery, Dinner and Dance. Winners of the two $500 early bird prizes were Joan Pletch of Wingham and Jim and Bern Scott of Ripley. The draw was made by John Chippa, C.K.N.X., at Belles and Beaus, the Association’s wedding and party decoration shop. The remaining 20 prizes (10 draws for $1,000 and 10 draws for $100) will be drawn at the dinner and dance October 13, 1990 at the Teeswater- Culross Community Centre. A limi­ ted number of tickets is still available at the Wingham and District Community Living Associa­ tion office (357-3562). This is the 12th year of hosting the Annual Lottery Dinner and Dance, which is also the Associa­ tion’s main fundraising event. Pro­ ceeds from the Lottery willbe used to ensure quality supports and services for people with develop­ mental disabilities. Though the majority of funding is provided by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, a portion needs to be raised by the association. These funds allow the Association to pay for the non-funded portions of service delivery. The Association provides sup­ port geared to each person in Residential Services and Employ­ ment Services, and continues to develop a variety of support options for people in employment, living and leisure areas. A good attendance gathered for the Cook Reunion at Belgrave Community Centre on Sunday, July 15. A bountiful dinner was held at noon. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Cook, Dungannon and Mr. and Mrs. Gary McArter, Brussels were in charge of the sports. Oldest person was Mrs. Gladys Cook, Blyth; youngest child, Sean Cook, son of Paul and Karen Cook; coming the farthest, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Taylor, Victoria, B.C.; birth­ day, Charles Cook. Election of officers was held. President is James Boak, Blyth; PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING A PROPOSED COMPREHENSIVE ZONING BY-LAW TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Village of Blyth will hold a public open house, as indicated below, to consider the proposed comprehensive zoning by-law. It implements the Blyth Secondary Plan by establishing land use controls and zones in the Village. ANY PERSON may attend the public open house and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed zoning by-law. Any written comments should be received by the Village Clerk-Treasurer on or before Thursday, August 16, 1990. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed zoning by-law is available at the Village Office in Blyth during normal business hours, or alternatively by contacting the Huron County Planning Department [524-2188].
