Wawanosh rejects plan change The 1990 annual Higgins reunion was held Sunday, July 8 on the lawn beside the Bluevale United Church. The young folk were entertained with games by Doreen Marks and Karrin, Belgrave, while Carman Farrier, Toronto had a variety of group activities enjoyed by every­ one. Supper was served in the church schoolroom by the committee of Ruth and John King, Wingham, Helen and Lloyd Warwick, Blue­ vale. Bernice and Jack Higgins, RR 5, Brussels. Eileen Higgins, Lon­ don supplied the cold drink. President Earl Fitch welcomed the 45 attending. A moment’s silence was observed in memory of the deceased. Carman Farrier said grace. A short business meeting follow­ ed supper. Wilma Higgins secre­ tary-treasurer read the minutes of the previous reunion and the 1990 executive meeting. 40 attend Edgar Reunion atBelmore Forty members of the Edgar clan held their 42nd reunion in the Community Park, Belmore. Sports for the children and adults were conducted by Douglas and Marilyn Richards of Clinton. Prior to a buffet supper Audrey Edgar read Grandpa Edgar’s blessing. Following the supper a short business meeting was held by the President Audrey Edgar, Secre­ tary-Treasurer, Irlma Edgar read the minutes of the last reunion and 82 at Procter reunion The 59th Procter reunion was held at East Wawanosh Public School, Belgrave on Sunday, July 8 with 82 in attendance. Chris Procter was the president and Lila Procter as acting secretary for Sylvia Procter. Sharon Nivins was in charge of the lunch commit­ tee. Donald and Kathy Procter and Arnold and Annie Spivey kept Bly th Bantam girls softball team is sporting new uniforms thanks to a donation from the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary. New uniforms Alvin Higgins, Wingham volun­ teered to be president for 1991 due to Jerry Higgins moving to North Carolina. The oldest lady attending was Dorothy Higgins and the oldest gentleman was Ivan Haskins. The youngest was Kyle, son of Rick and Carol Lassaline. Earl Fitch thanked all the com­ mittees for their help. Ivan Haskins moved a vote of thanks to Earl and Audrey and congratulations on becoming grandparents. The executive for 1991 is: presi­ dent, Alvin Higgins; first vice, Bill Higgins; second vice, Don Higgins (1993 our 70th anniversary); Secre­ tary-Treasurer, Wilma Higgins; in­ vitations, Margaret Higgins, Judy Shortreed and Edna Pletch; lunch, Marilyn and Dave Penner, Donna and John Barger, Barbara and Wayne Higgins, Eileen and Don Higgins; sports, Frances and Tom Hunter and Lynda and Elwood Fitch. a moment of silence was held in memory of those who had passed on during the year. Relatives attending were from Montreal, Ottawa, Gorrie, Blue­ vale, Teeswater, Goderich, Wing­ ham, Lucknow, Belmore and Bel­ grave. The slate of officers for 1991 is: President, Audrey Edgar; Vice- President, David Ireland; Secre­ tary Treasurer, Irlma Edgar; Sports Committee, Alvin and Marion Mundell. every one entertained with sack races, water balloon contest, tug-a- war, colouring and drawing for the young children. Relatives attending were from Islington, Goderich, Grand Bend, Listowel, Seaforth, London, Tavis­ tock, Wingham, Blyth, Ingersoll, Brussels, and Belgrave. After discussing a proposed change to the Secondary Plan of East Wawanosh Township with Huron County Planner Cindy Fish­ er, Council decided at its meeting of July 3 to make no change. The proposal concerned the severance policy which presently allows for no less than 52 acres. Council questioned whether this could be changed to 50 acres, but after talking to Ms. Fisher decided to leave the plan as it is as there is still a need for viable agricultural unit. There will be a review of the township plan in 1992. Reeve Ernest Snell has been appointed as the voting delegate for East Wawanosh to the 1990 Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s conference in August. Permission was granted to Crime Stoppers of Huron County to sell raffle tickets on a hind quarter of People Justin Campbell, son of John and Linda Campbell, celebrated his seventh birthday June 29. Celebrating with him were: his brother Jeremy, Craig Marks, Jason Fear, Travis Campbell, Michael Procter, Tim Jerva, Tyler Fenton and Adam Potter whose birthday was also the same day. The children had a fun time enjoying many outside games and sports as well as a barbecue. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Makas and Alicia of London spent the weekend with Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. Mrs. Dorothy Logan visited with her daughter (Patsy) Mrs. Americo Arruda of Fergus who has been a patient in Fergus Hospital and has now been transferred to the K-W Hospital for further therapy. Her room number is 3A9. Carman Farrier, Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Higgins and attended the Higgins reunion at Bluevale on Sunday. Belgrave Mites lose Belgrave Mite boys played Wingham July 5 in an exhibition game and were defeated 14.-10. Getting runs were Michael Marks, Robbie McGee, Jeremy Campbell and Marc Alexander in the first inning and Belgrave only came in with one run in the second by Justin Campbell. In the third inning one run was brought in by Jeremy Campbell and followed with one run in the fourth by Tom Pfeiffer. The game ended in the fifth inning with runs by Marc Alexander, Jason Howatt and Tom Pfeiffer.
