Hullett Landowners to hear County Highway plans Landowners along Huron County Road 15 between the Base Line and Londesboro have been invited to attend a meeting in Londesboro tonight (Wednesday) to discuss reconstruction plans for the road. County officials will discuss their plans at the meeting at the Londes boro Hall at 8 p.m. The county took over the road from the township last year with the completion of the Goderich-Colborne Boundary Bridge (new Ball’s Bridge) with plans to upgrade it. Eventually with linking up with the paved portion of the road east of Londes boro and County Road 31 east of Benmiller, there will be paved road all the way from Highway 21 to Highway 8 near Kitchener. NOTICE Following the bouncing ball these youngsters watch to see if they’ve won a goldfish in the booth operated by the Walton Sports Club at the FunFest. Recycling conserves natural re sources, helps improve the envir onment and creates new jobs. Brussels seeks new dog catcher Once again the village of Brus sels is looking at an outside dog catcher to try to police the canine population of the village and their owners. Council decided at the July 3 meeting to contact Arteeka Canine Control of Mount Forest to take over dog catching in the village. The decision came after problems related by village staff. “People are mad,’’ Donna White, deputy clerk-treasurer said. “They call us and all we can say is we’ll ask the guys (village works and PDC crew) to catch the dog if they can.’’ We have so many calls a day about dogs all over the village and we just don’t know what to tell them.’’ Reeve Gordon Workman said there are advantages to having someone from outside the village do the dog catching. If Ateeka catches the dog they contact the owner and if the owner doesn’t respond they take the animal away. If they write out a ticket people know they have to pay to get their dog back. When the local staff catches the dog people try to get sympathy and have them release the dog without paying the ticket. Council agreed to ask the Mount Forest company to return to the village.
