Village of Brussels & Brussels Public Utilities Commission Valedictory address Grade 8 first step on ladder of success BY SHERI HUETHER Parents, Teachers, Fellow Gradu­ ates: This is our first jump up the ladder to reach our goals. We are graduating from grade eight to go on to bigger and better things. We have many people to thank for this jump such as our teachers, who have taught us many things (one of those was homework), our parents, who have struggled with us and made us do our homework and our friends, who have been there for us whenever they were needed. I hope in future years we will have as much support as we have had in the past. To all those people, our deepest apprecia- ation. Let’s stop and take a moment to look down at the very first rung of the ladder. “Kindergarten babies, wash their face in gravy!” Anyone remember that song? As we moved up the ladder, we learned how to read, print, count, listen and talk much more. As we have grown up we increased our knowledge. Math, Science, Geography, His­ tory, Music, Phys Ed, Literature and Art, not to forget French, are subjects we tried to achieve to our best ability. In the future I hope to try to reach the goals I have set for myself. We are growing up; we are teenagers and we have out grown some of the needs that you fulfill­ ed. We have followed your steps to the best that we can but the rest is up to us.
