picnic held
The annual Calvin-Brick Sunday
School picnic was held on Sunday,
July 1 at the home of Superinten
dents Don and Gloria Dow.
The Sunday School students and
staff invited the rest of the congre
gation to an afternoon of barbecued
hot dogs and hamburgers, talking
and visiting, fun and games.
Despite the fact that it was a
holiday weekend there was a good
crowd in attendance.
The picnic was the closing of the
Sunday School season. Classes will
resume once again in September.

Morris gets grant for blue boxes Belgrave
Grant approval has been given to
Morris Township for 750 blue
boxes, Council was informed at its
meeting of June 5. Cost of program
is $4.60 plus an additional $150 for
the printing of the township name
on the side of the boxes. Two-thirds
of the cost will be covered by the
grants half from the Ontario Multi
material Recycling Incorporated
and the other portion from the
Ministry of the Environment.
Councillor Deloris Souch noted
that the crossing at Henry Rouw’s
property at Lot 6, Cone. 8 should be
repaired.
Council were advised by Council
lor Clem McLellan that a sundeck
was being erected and he question
ed the application of a building
permit. It was noted by Building
Official Leo Sanders that the build-
*ng permit had been applied for in
1989.
A resolution to fulfill a severance
condition was made following a
motion by Councillor Bert Elliott.
Mr. Elliott suggested that Mr.
Decoration Day
Michie, the Road Superintendent,
be authorized to forward a letter to
the Huron County Planning De
partment with reference being
made to Part of Lot 2, Cone. 4. It
was Council’s opinion that the sight
lines for the lot are as good as can
be and seem relatively safe, due to
the fact that other residential lots
with driveways are in the same
location without any history of
problems.
A landowner on Parker Dr. in
Belgrave has requested the install
ation of a catch basin in his drive.
The driveway slopes down to the
basement car garage and the basin
would prevent water problems
here. Council however, felt that the
installation was not its responsibil
ity, but said that the landowner
would not be charged an additional
connection fee into the sewer
should he go ahead.
Alan Mill of Crawford, Mill and
Davies law office was in attendance
to discuss the situation with the
repairs at the Queen’s Hotel in
Belgrave.
After a lengthy discussion Coun
cil agreed that Leo Sanders should
be appointed Property Standards
Officer and inspect the Queen’s
Hotel to see if it complies with the
standards set.
A grant of $500 was given to
Clinton Public Hospital for the
purchase of X-ray equipment.
Twelve hundred dollars was
granted to Brussels for the fire
grant.
The general accounts in the
amount of $421,690.43 and the road
accounts totalling $151,348.46 were
approved for payment.
Building permits were issued to:

deck; George Fisher, North Part
Lot 39, 40, Cone. 1, drive shed; Bill
Sellers, North PartLot 18, Cone. 3,
