THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 1990. 4H Club visits nature centres Auburn BY SHELLEY DOBIE Auburn’s third meeting of the 4H Conservation project was held on Wednesday, May 30. Constable shows videos at WI meeting The monthly meeting of the Auburn Women’s Institute will be held at the Community Hall on Tuesday, June 19 at 2 p.m. Constable John Marshall of the O.P.P. detachment will be showing videos of “Crime in the Home’’ and “Crime in the Streets’’. Roll call will be “What will you do to secure your home’’. Everyone is welcome to attend. P.R.O. officer Mrs. Tom Lawlor is in charge of this meeting. Community At this meeting the members went on an indoor orienteering course and learned how to use a compass. Then they went to the river to look at the wildlife. HOW CAN WE IMPROVE HABITAT Auburn’s fourth meeting of the conservation project was held on Monday, June 4 at the home 'of Helen Lapp. The members worked on their books. The members learned that planting trees, shrubs and grasses improve wildlife habi­ tat. The new cover was designed by Kevn Losereit. THE TRIP TO HULLETT WILDLIFE Auburn’s fifth meeting of the 4H Conservation project was held at Hullett Wildlife on Saturday, June 9. There the members learned how people there help the wildlife. The members also saw some feathers and wings from different ducks. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, June 16 and is the Achievement program. Car lands in field, no one injured extends sympathy Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson spent last weekend with their son William of Newmarket. Mrs. Beth Lansing spent last weekend with Sam and Pat Squires of Alliston. Sympathy is extended to the Craig families on the passing of Arnold Craig who passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 6 in his 76th year. Jr. choir entertains at Huronview The Junior Choir of Knox United Church, Auburn and their leader Shelley Worsell and Karen Web­ ster entertained the residents of Huronview last Wednesday night, June 6 with a program of choral numbers, solos and piano solos. On Friday night, June 8 the Junior Choir went to Vanastra for a pool party and came back to the church for lunch. This ends the activities of the Junior choir for this season. No injuries were sustained following an accident that occurred on Highway 4, in Morris Township at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 7. Seventeen-year-old Timothy King of Dinsley St. in Blyth was southbound near Cone. 8-9 at a speed of 90 kilometres an hour when he pulled out to pass a dump truck, owned by George Radford Construction Ltd. Wingham OPP stated that Mr. ' King’s 1987 Hyundai travelled onto the east shoulder, where he lost control and swung back around striking the truck, which was driven by George Black, 39, of Belgrave. Police say that the King vehicle then went back onto the east shoulder and into the ditch before going through the fence into a field. Compiled by Mrs. Mildred Lawlor. Phone 526-7589 No outdoor service, Sun. Peggy Campbell, chaplain of Huronview conducted the morning service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organist. The flowers in the sanctuary were from the funeral of the late Arnold Craig. Call to Worship was read alter­ nately followed by the hymn “Praise My Soul the King of Heaven’’. Peggy Campbell gave the prayer of approach and the Lord’s Prayer was repeated in unison. The children’s time was observed. The hymn “Softly and Tenderly’’ was sung. The scrip­ tures were read followed by prayer chorus “Whisper A Prayer in the morning’’. Sermon was by Peggy Campbell. The offering was receiv­ ed by Stuart Bakker and Murray Rollinson and dedicated. The hymn ‘How Great Thou Art” was sung. Peggy pronounced the Benedic­ tion. The service concluded with the response “Now Thank We all Our God”. Next week will be the regular service of worship at the church as the outdoor service has been cancelled. Reunion held The decendents of Warner Youngbiut and Elizabeth Lotz held their annual reunion in th? Auburn Community Hall on Saturday, June 9 with 46 in attendance. The entertainment was by Gordon Wall of Wingham on violin and Art Youngbiut of Goderich on piano. There were contests by Marjorie Wall. Music was performed by Gordon Wall and his daughter Marion Havitt of Teeswater. A smorgas­ bord supper was enjoyed. Those attending were from Wingham, Teeswater, Goderich, London, Windsor, Zurich, Blake, Blyth and Auburn. It was decided to have the 1991 reunion on the second Satur­ day of June in the Auburn Com­ munity Hall and Harry and Lucille Arthur in charge.
