At the last regular meeting of the
Blyth Legion June 7 the new
officers for the coming year were
present.
A motion to make the following
donations was passed at the
meeting: Children’s Hospital of
Western Ontario Miracle Telethon
Network $1,000; Salvation Army
Red Shield Appeal, $500; Clinton
Public Hospital, $500; Wingham

Some minor damage is being
done as the result of vandalism at
the Blyth Lions Park recently and
one club member has been keeping
a close eye on things in the hopes of
stopping any more from happen
ing.
Al Donaldson says that in the last
while vandals have taken shingles
off the pump house roof, left tire
marks on the freshly painted pool
floor and thrown rocks onto the
roof. While it hasn’t resulted in any
major damage he feels it is still
“outright vandalism’’.
“We have put a lot of work and
money into this project and I just
feel that some kids aren’t appre
ciating that,’’ he said.
Mr. Donaldson has been moni
toring the activity at the park on a
regular basis in hopes of discover
ing who is causing the damage or to
curtail anf further abuse.

30, 8 p.m. in the upstairs of the
Legion. Everyone is welcome.

some others who have expressed
interest have not returned their
entry forms. Getting the forms in
promptly allows planners to make
the parade more smooth, he said.
Major entries in the parade
include the Forest City Pipes and
Drums, Brussels Legion Pipes and
Drums, Clinton Legion Pipes and
Drums, London’s Mocha Shrine
Oriental Band and Horse Patrol
and the Bluewater Fire Brigade,
Scooter Patrol and Rat Patrol so the
parade promises to be a memorable
one, one that many people will
want to say they’ve been a part of.
Also coming up as part of the
Festival is the big cooking contest.
Those wanting free rutabagas to
make their recipes can pick them
up at the Blyth village office.
Chatham Daily News, to Macleans
Magazine where at the age of 28,
he became its youngest managing
editor. Mr. Gzowski will also
autograph his books at The Book
Shop in Blyth on Friday, June 15
from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
