Phone 523-4360 League holds banquet The Mower YoiTll Love for Years The Londesboro Ladies’ League held their bowling banquet at Londesboro Hall on Tuesday even­ ing, May 1 at 6 p.m. The W.I. served a delicious roast beef dinner to 31 ladies after which they enjoyed two games of bowling. Top team for the season was the Lovely Lilacs with 120 points. Members were Rita Verberg, Carol Munnings, Debbie Cuthill, Cathy Wammes and Gerry Dale. Second place team was Oak Tree Babes. Members were Janet Taylor, Agnes Doherty, Jay Carter, Anna Pollard and Gladys Curtis. Perfect attendance pins for 84 games were presented to Carol Munnings, Gerry Dale, Jay Carter, June Thomas, Audrey Boonstoppel, Janet Taylor, Helen Dale and Patti Maguire. There were five spare bowlers. The awards were given to: high average, 1988-89, Dorothy Airdrie; high average 1989-90, Patti Maguire; R.V. high average, Rita Verburg; high triple, Susan Proctor (753); R.V. high triple, Audrey Boonstoppel and Dorothy Carter; high single, June Thomas (318); R.V. high single, Agnes Doherty; most improved, Jay Carter; R.V. most improved, Cathy Wammes; award for low score, Sharon La Croix; head pin award, Audrey Boonstoppel. Pins were presented for high triples with 11 over 650, four over 700 and one over 750. Pins were awarded for high singles: 16 for over 250, and six over 300. This ended another enjoyable year of bowling. • Easy to start Community extends sympathy The sympathy of the community is extended to Margaret Good and family Helen and John Lyons of RR 1, Londesboro and Sandra and Randy Logan of London and their families on the passing of a husband and father Russell Good. The sympathy of the community is extended to Annie and Norman Vincent on the passing of Annie’s sister Mrs. Viola Raithby of Auburn. June Fothergill would like to thank her helpers Betty Moon, Elizabeth Lawson and Nancy Allen for their help collecting for the Cancer Society. The total received was $435. Thanks to all the donors as this is the most ever collected in the area. Attention Senior Bowlers: There will be bowling on two afternoons at Clinton Crown Lanes on Thurs­ day, May 17 and Thursday, May 24 at 1:30 p.m. The high two ladies and the high three men will bowl at the Senior Games in Stratford on Tuesday, June 26. Ushers were Gerrit Wilts, Bill Bromley, Dennis Penfound and Cliff Saundercock. The flowers on the piano were in memory of Mr. Ian MacDonald, a brother-in-law of the Leo Horbanuik family. As Rev. Snihur was at confer­ ence, the following people took part: Laura Scott, Renee Snell, Gordon Shobbrook and Bob Trick. Bruce Shillinglaw gave the ser­ mon. His sermon was based on Faith in Nature and the many ways God always answers this. Junior Choir Practice is Satur­ day, May 12 at 10 a.m. The Junior Youth Group meets on Thursday, May 10 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Hullett Central School for volleyball and devotions. Next Sunday is Chris­ tian Family Sunday. The next Huronview Fellowship Time is on Thursday, May 17 at Huronview Chapel at 1:15 p.m. Bible Study is at the Snihurs on Friday, May 11 at 1:15 p.m. The general meeting of Huron- Perth Chapter of Community of Concern is on Wednesday, May 16 at 8 p.m. at Mitchell United Church. The senior choir will practise and sing on Sundays, May 20 and May 27. Practice is at 10:30 a.m.; Junior Choir on May 13. On Sunday, May 27 at 8 p.m. there will be a sing-along with the Blyth Festival Singers at an evening of Gospel hymns. This event is spon­ sored by the choir of Londesboro Church. Donations are accepted at the door.
