Walton WI installs new executive for this year On Wednesday evening 15 ladies sat down to a delicious meal at the Walton Inn served by Karl and Annie MacNaughton. The meeting was held in the hall. After Ruth Axtmann expressed the members thanks to Karl and Annie. Marion had a couple pictures of the group taken then presided far the opening with the Institute Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect and O Canada. Margery Huether was pianist. Marion read a poem. Fantasy Island and reported a pretty good turn out for the luncheon that day. May luncheon Tea time Busily preparing for the Daffodil Tea on Saturday at Duff’sUnited Church in Walton are from left: Phyllis Mitchell, Marjorie Fra­ ser, Margery Huether and Melva Fraser. The tea was Walton will be held on the third Wednes­ day of the month. Minutes were read by Marjory Humphries and roll call was the payment of membership fees. In the correspon­ dence a letter was read from the Huron County Museum for their sixth annual quilt show. District annual delegates to the meeting at Fordwich on May 8 are Berva Watson and Ruth Axtmann. , It was moved to cater to a meal for a Fordwich bus load going to the Blyth Festival on June 13. An invitation was received to the Blyth W.I. meeting on May 3 to celebrate their 80th anniversary. Several plan to attend. The meeting on May 16 will have the 4H girls club attend their meeting where they plan to have baking for sale, that they learned in this last club. Extra institute mem­ bers offered to go on the lunch committee. The annual meeting followed with last year’s minutes and finan­ cial report for the year. The auditors report was given by Viola Kirkby. Those with perfect atten­ dance for the past year were Ruth Axtmann, Viola Kirkby and Betty McCall. Margaret Craig read the annual branch program report in the absence of Co-ordinator Helen Craig. She then read the curator report written by Jeanne Kirkby of Tweedsmuir History Book. Lois Hart now installed the officers. Marjory of nominating committee read officers names to come forward. Margaret Mclnroy presented Lois with a gift. . New motions were moved and past for coming year. Marion gave a summary of her last two years in office as president and thanked everyone for helping in her busy schedule. Margaret Mclnroy pre­ sented Marion with a gift of thanks. The program planning meeting will be held this Wednesday evening at the hall at 7 p.m. With no further business the meeting was closed with the Queen. Sports Club plans garage sale The Walton Area Sports commit­ tee held their meeting in April. In the business it was planned to have the annual garage sale and bake table on May 12 at the hall. The committee would appreciate baking from families of the ball or any donations for the garage sale. Tickets are now on sale for a cash draw in July and are available from any of the committee members. Duff's tea a busy spot Harvey and Margaret Craig were greeters Sunday morning at Duff’s United Church. Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal officiating. Offering was received by Ross Bennett and Lavern Godkin. The Junior Choir is to meet Thursday, April 26. The official board meeting for this month was held at the home of Ron and Betty McCallum Sunday evening. On Saturday the basement of the church was a busy place with their tea tables prettily decorated with cloths and daffodils, baking and craft tables for their Daffodil Tea.
