Mrs. Hakkers was one of the hundreds of people who attended the event in the Women’s Institute Hall in Belgrave on Saturday that raised over $1,400 for the Sunday School of Knox United Church. U.C.W. holds meeting Majestic W.I, hosts card party The regular meeting of Belgrave Evening Unit of Knox United Church Women was held April 3 at the home of Mrs. Leslie Shaw with 23 present and answering the roll with an Easter verse. Mrs. Mabel Wheeler and Mrs. Gordon Bosman conducted the worship taking “Joy o- the Gift He gave us”, as the theme. Scripture lesson was Matthew 28, verses 1-10. Members were reminded of the “Day of Music” to be held at Wingham United Church Saturday, May 5. Mrs. Ross Higgins outlined the 10 main religious groups of the world giving a brief outline of each - their source, beliefs and symbols. A discussion followed expressing concerns of political consideration given to minority groups at the expense of the majority such as the removal of the Lord’s Prayer and religious instruction in our elemen­ tary schools. The meeting closed with prayer and lunch. The Majestic Women’s Institute held a card party in the library on Monday evening, April 2 with eight tables in play. The high lady’s prize went to Mrs. Verna Thomas and Mrs. Marjorie Ritchie, who played in place of a man, won the man’s high prize. Mrs. Herman Whitfield won the low ladies’ prize and Mrs. Rheinhart Bauer, the low man’s. The lady wearing the most green was Mrs. Jeanne Ireland, the score card with most 4’s was Mrs. John Simpson and the birthday prize went to Mrs. Gordon Nicholson. fhe last euchre party of the season sponsored by the W.I. will Belgrave euchre results Fifteen tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave, Wednes­ day, April 4. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Stuart Chamney; low lady, Mrs. Gordon Bosman; novelty lady, Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse; second high lady, Mrs. Harvey Craig; high man, George Johnston; low man, Dean Vincent; novelty man, Mrs. Agnes Gaunt, (playing as a man); second high man, Garner Nichol- be held on Monday evening, April 30 beginning with a casserole supper at 7 p.m. followed by cards.
