Grey Township firemen answer
ed a call to the Ron Malcolm home
in Cranbrook early Wednesday
evening when grease on a stove
had ignited causing extensive
smoke and water damage. A cat
and rabbit perished.

Grey applies
for grant
Grey Township Council held its
regular meeting on April 2 and
passed by-laws authorizing gravel
pit leases with Balia Hi Farms, Ken
Tyerman, Ron Yanke and Rosie
Yanke.
Council authorized the Clerk to
apply to the Ministry of Culture
and Communications for a capital
grant towards the estimated $5,000
cost to relocate the Cranbrook
library to the Cranbrook Commun
ity Centre.
Council also authorized a grant
of $100 to the Huron Plowmen’s
Association for 1990.
In other business, Council
authorized payment of general
accounts totalling $76,590.27 and
road accounts totalling $30,253.85.
The next regular meeting of
Council is scheduled for April 17th
at 9:30 a.m.
County's women
teachers to host
discussion
Each year, women teachers
across Ontario celebrate the instal
lation of the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms into the Canadian consti
tution. The Huron Women Teach
ers’ Association invites all female
staff members (teachers, occasion
al teachers, retired teachers, secre
taries, bus drivers and custodians)
of the Huron County Board of
Education to join them for an
evening of discussion surrounding
the Charter and its guarantee of
equality.
Donations toward the Survival
Through Friendship House in
Goderich are accepted in the form
of cash and canned goods, paper
and personal products. The meet
ing will be Tuesday, April 10 at
Goderich Township Hall, Holmes
ville with social hour at 5:30 p.m.
and supper at 6:00 p.m.
