Phone 523-4360 Guest tells WI of France The March meeting of Londes­ boro Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday evening, March 14 at 8 p.m. The meeting opened with the Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Col­ lect and O Canada. President Marjorie Anderson read a poem, “That’s Success”. Marjorie welcomed the guests, the 4H girls. Helen Lawson read the minutes of the February meeting. They were approved as read. She also gave the financial statement and read the correspondence. Clinton Spring Fair would like a donation. An invitation was received from Blyth W.I. for May 3 at 8 p.m. at Memorial Hall for 80th anniver­ sary. The Executive of Huron West 4H bakes pizza bread BY BONITA TEN HAG The third meeting of the Londes­ boro Breadventure Club was held on March 12 at the Londesboro Hall. The meeting was opened with the 4H pledge, then members read the roil call and minutes from the last meeting. They then went to the kitchen and Cindy Campschroer explained how to bake Betty’s Pizza Bread. As it was rising members went over the business. Mrs. Camp­ schroer and Mrs. Bos brought up the Bread Fair and the members achievement night. Everybody has to bring at least one recipe out of the recipe booklet or a family favourite etc... for the Bread Fair. Members are going to do their judging at the Bread Fair also. The public and all parents are invited to the party on April 23 at the Londesboro Hall at 7 p.m. The meeting was closed with the 4H motto. The next meeting will be held on March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Londesboro Hall. will meet Monday, April 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the W.I. Hall in Belgrave. It was moved to give a donation to Clinton Fair Board and Huron- Perth Bruce Chapter of Epilepsy. It was moved to pay any 4H club expenses. The last euchre of the season will be held on Friday, April 6. Lois Elliott told about the W.I. programmes. She introduced the guest speaker, Miss Lori Jewitt of Clinton. Lori spoke about her three-month student exchange to France. She gave a very interesting and amusing speech about food, customs, dress and the family she stayed with in Rheims who didn’t speak English. She also spoke of visits to Paris and Belgium. She is continuing her education with French at Waterloo University in September. It was a great oppor­ tunity for her to take a part in it. Lois Elliott thanked her and presented her with a W.I. cook book. Collection and pennies were taken up. The 4H leaders of the past year were presented with leaders were Linda _____, Teena Bos, Elizabeth Lawson and Joanne Campschroer. Lois Elliott read a poem for St. Patrick’s Day. Marjorie read “The Legend of the Blarney Stone”. Grace and the “Queen” were sung. Lunch was served by Lois Elliott and Elma Jewitt. , — — z Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, March 18 were John and Jane Hoggart. Ushers were Bill Bromley, Len Archam­ bault, Elgin Penfound and Cliff Saundercock. The choir sang an anthem. Rev. Snihur presented Katie Snell with her Bible on occasion of her ninth birthday. The sermon topic was “Peter, Trials into Triumph: The Letter of Hope (Part 3> Submission’’. Bible Study and Prayer Group meets on Friday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Maureen Bean’s in Auburn. The Church skating party is on Sunday, March 18 from 3 - 4 p.m. An old fashioned country supper will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at Knox United Church in Auburn. Don’t forget Songfest on Sunday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Londesboro. The Junior Youth Group meets at the church on Thursday, March 22 (7 - 9 p.m.) for Euchre Tourna­ ment. The March Happy Gang Seniors meeting is at the hall on Wednes­ day, March 28 at 12 o’clock sharp. Members should bring their own dishes and cutlery and wear some­ thing green for St. Patrick’s Day. Pets‘R’ Us meets On Friday, March 9, Londesboro II Pets “R” Us met at the Dougherty place for a 3 p.m. meeting. Members discussed what to feed a pet and the importance of nutrients. They had cookies and apple cider then played a game. Each member got to take home a “goodie bag” for their pet. Shuffleboard Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Central School on Wednesday, March 14. There were 14 present. High man was Lome Dale and high lady, Geraldine Dale. a gift. The Horbanuik, Polite Delights’ participate in several outings The Cranbrook “Polite lights” 4H club had an outing on March 14 beginning the morning at Betts Funeral Home, Brussels, where they viewed two films and toured the various rooms. At noon they ate in the dining room at the Brussels Hotel to practice what was learned about restaurant etiquette. In the afternoon they helped with the Cranbrook W.I. birthday party at the Callander Nursing Home by providing the entertainment. Sun­ day, March 18 they met at the Pizza Delight in Listowel for supper. They then went bowling in Moles- worth. On Sunday Frank and Peter attended. Cori and Andy Smith, Toronto, spent a week with their grand­ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Stevenson. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith have returned from a holiday in Florida. EUCHRE Fourteen tables took part in the progressive euchre on March 16 V $ i sponsored by the Hall Board.
