Kevin Leddy moves these tatters around the ring so buyers can get a good look at the cattle. Buyers
look for size in the animals and that the animals are not over-finished. A safety guard was recently
added to the ring as some of the cattle act up and try to bang things around.

Weighing in
Back in the Stocker barn, Ross Brindley weighs some Western
cattle that have just come off the truck. The scale can weigh
about30head of cattleat500 pound weight. Mr. Brindley keeps
records of the weight of all cattle coming in from the west to
know how much shrink is on the cattle from their journey. He
knows the buyer has done a good job when there is a five per
cent shrink or less on the cattle.
