The gestation is a brief stop over for the breeding sows on Jeff Cardiff’s farm. Once bred, gestation
takes 114 days and then they are moved to the farrowing barn to give birth to their young.

Jeff attaches an electrolyte solution to the water supply of the
newly weaned pigs. They will receive the supplement for five
days tostimulatetheirappetiteafter the stress of weaning. The
solution can also be given as an aid in preventing vitamin
deficiency when animals are a bit off their feed.
