HOEGY Wilbur Carl Hoegy of Brodhagen passed away suddenly at St. Petersburg, Florida on Friday, March 2, 1990 in his 68th year. He was born in McKillop Town­ ship on April 18, 1922, a son of the late Frederick Hoegy and the former Elinore Doerr. On June 20, 1946, he was married to the former Norma Hillebrecht. Mr. Hoegy founded Hoegy Farm Supply in Brodhagen in 1948. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Broadhagen where he had served on the church board and had taught Sunday School. He was a member and Past President of the Brodhagen Chamber of Commerce, a member of Tudor Lodge No. 141 AF & AM, Mitchell and the London Chapter of Rose Croix. He was also a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 55, l.O.O.F., Seaforth. Surviving besides his wife are two sons Maynard and his wife Lynn of Brodhagen and Merle and his wife Rhonda of Brussels; three daughters Barbara and her hus­ band Randy Smithers of Stratford, Bonnie and her husband John Beimers of Brodhagen and Bever­ ley and her husband William McCreight of Perth; one brother Laverne Hoegy and his wife Greta of Dublin; two sisters Evelyn Kleber of Mitchell and Leotta and her husband Edwin Mackenzie of Warren, Michigan. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law Gordon Kleber. A Memorial Service was held in Pasadena Park, Florida on Sunday, March 4. Friends were received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, Mitchell until noon on Thursday, March 8 when transfer was made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brod­ hagen for the funeral service with Rev. Bob Book officiating. Flower bearers were Emily Beimers, Stacey and Sarah Smithers, Jenni­ fer and Ryan Hoegy. Pallbearers were Merle, Maynard and Chris Hoegy, Randy and Scott Smithers, John Beimers and William Mc­ Creight. Spring interment will be in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Brod­ hagen. On Wednesday evening, members of Tudor Lodge, Mitchell held a service at the funeral home. HILDA FARRISH [WHYTE] Hilda Farrish of Gorrie passed away on February 28, 1990 at Wingham and District Hospital. Suffering declining health for the last year, Mrs. Farrish was 87- years-old. She was born in Egermont Township and in May 28, 1924 she married Elmer Farrish at Dromore. He predeceased her in 1983. A kind and loving wife and mother Mrs. Farrish was very talented with her hands and enjoy­ ed painting, sewing and a variety of other crafts. She belonged to Gorrie United Church where she was a faithful member for as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Farrish will be mourned by her children: Jasper and Cherie of Gorrie; Bower and Helen of Wroxe- ter; Maxine and George Adams of Wroxeter; Millie and Don Leader of Wingham; and Johnstone and Sue of Prince George, B.C. Also surviv­ ing is her sister Josie Pinder of Mount Forest. Besides her husband, Mrs. Far­ rish was predeceased by her par­ ents, Martha Ann and Alex Whyte; two children at birth; her sister, Myrtle Long; and three brothers, Jasper, Alex and Percy Whyte. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on March 3 at Betts Funeral Home in Gorrie. Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiated. Interment will take place in the spring at Gorrie Cemetery. Blyth UCW plan garage sale The garage sale committee of the Blyth United Church Women of the Evening unit met in the Church parlor on March 6. This year’s convenor is Joan Clark and her assistant is Diane Wasson. It was decided to hold the 15th annual garage sale on Friday, May 4 from 7 - 9 p.m. The committee decided to again run the Kid’s Corner and the Food Booth at the sale. Also, there has been enough interest shown to collect rags again this year. Anyone having cloth articles suitable for rags are asked to please leave them in the narthex of the Blyth United Church. Pickup of articles for the garage sale will again be arranged as in previous years. Bonnie Shannon or Joan Clark have been designated as the members to call for pick-up on Thursday, May 3 after 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held on April 3, 1990 at the Blyth United Church Parlor. E. Wawanosh ratepayers vote yes to install street lights A special meeting for ratepayers of the Humphrey subdivision in Belgrave and Hutton Heights, south of Wingham, to discuss the installation of street lights was held on Monday, March 5, at the East Wawanosh Municipal Office. The ratio of the cost will be a 60 per cent by 40 per cent split between the ratepayers and the township. \Of those attending from the Humphrey subdivision 12 said yes to the installation of lights on the eight existing poles while only one responded negatively. There were eight who approved the installation on the five ready poles for Hutton Heights with only one opposing. At the regular meeting of Coun­ cil a by-law was passed authorizing the numbering of residences in the Humphrey subdivision differently than the legal description which Clerk-Treasurer Winona Thompson stated will make it easier for people to find a specific house in the subdivision. The township insurance in the amount of $8,899 was authorized for payment. This is an increase of $1,077 over last year’s amount. The share for the Belgrave Community Centre Board is $700; for the roads department is $5,849; and for general $2,350. Council accepted the budgets for Wingham and Blyth Fire Boards and for East Wawanosh Recrea­ tion, which includes Wingham, Blyth, Lucknow and Belgrave. Blyth Fire Board’s budget was set for this year at $10,096 with 40 per cent being kept in reserves. The total Recreation budget is $55,022. Blyth’s share of this comes to $11,486 and Belgrave’s to $33,550. East Wawanosh Council received gravel tenders from Joe Kerr Ltd. of Wingham, Lloyd Jacklin Gravel of RR 1, Listowel, Robert Farrish Construction of Listowel, and George Radford Construction of Blyth. The tender of Joe Kerr Ltd. the crushing, hauling and placing of gravel of 22,000 Imperial tons of 5/8 A gravel at a cost of $2.35 per ton was accepted. The bid of Robert Farrish Construction for stockpiling 7,000 cubic yards at a cost of $10,150 was accepted. The tender of Harvey Krotz Ltd. in Listowel for a new six-ton truck at a cost of $55,489 for the chassis only was accepted by East Wawa­ nosh Council, while the bid from Frink Canada was accepted in the amount of $22,836.60 for a snow plow, harness and wing. A motion was made to keep the old dump truck and have a new box installed on the new truck by Frink Canada at a cost of approximately $6,000. All of these are subject to I supplementary funding from the Ministry of Transport. Council authorized Don Pattison to take the grader operating train­ ing course. The cost will be $1,300. A building permit was issued to Stanton and Sophia Wood for a residence in the Humphrey sub­ division. Business and \Henry F.
