HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1990-03-14, Page 13Belgrave Atoms trounce Belmore Belgrave Atoms were not nice hosts March 7 as they sent Belmore Atoms home with a 6-1 defeat, Eugene Fenton and Brian Marks scored 37 seconds apart in the first period to give Belgrave all the goals it would need. Kirk Krieger and Dan Gusso assisted on the first goal while the second goal was unassisted. With just 18 seconds left in the first, Brent Robinson made it 3-0 with a goal from Kirk Kreiger. The second period was scoreless and Belmore got off to a good start in the third when it scored a goal with just under four minutes gone. Belgrave came back with three more goals late in the game, however, to take the easy win. Wayne Fenton scored from Kirk Krieger and Brent Robinson then Brian Marks scored from Dan Gusso. With 1:33 left in the game Brent Robinson wrapped up the scoring with a goal from Ryan Cook. Brussels curling club hosts bonspiel The Brussels Curling Club host­ ed a mixed bonspiel on Saturday, March 3. There were three draws consisting of three, six-end games. The 8:30 a.m. draw was sponsor­ ed by McGavin Farm Suppply. First place with 45.5 points went to the team of Murray Huether. Merle Macintosh, Mac Macintosh and „ Mary Huether; second with 38 points, Joan Cardiff, Dale Finch, Lori Parker and Gary Pipe; third with 35.5 points, Orval Bruce, Elaine Wicke, George Wicke and Ruth Bauer; fourth with 35.25 points, Abe Versteeg, Vicki Se­ ward, Steve Crocker and Cynthia Crocker; fifth with 32.25 points, Doug Sholdice, Corrie Rammeloo, Michelle Vader, Neil Mitchell and Jackie La Crois. The 10 a.m. draw was sponsored by McDonald Build-All. First place with 47.5 points went to the team of Joe Martin, Fem Martin, Bill Dowd and Jean Baillie; second with 37.75 points, Jim Patterson, Pauline Patterson, Bill Quipp and Donna Quipp; third place with 37.25 points, Ernie Lewington, Annette Lewington, Dave Linton and Bren­ da Linton; fourth place with 34.25 points, Steve Rath well, Debbie O’Rourke, Gerald Rathwell and Debbie Prior; fifth place with 30.25 points, Fay Ribey, Ross Veitch, Sharon Cowman and Bev Steven­ son. The 11:30 a.m. draw was spon­ sored by Oldfield Pro Hardware. First place with 44.25 points went to the team of Mervyn Bauer, Donna Bauer, Kerry Bauer and Marg Taylor; second place with 37.5 points, Stew Steiss, Madelene Steiss, Steve Steiss and Sandy Smith; third place with 35.25 points, George Steven, Nancy Steven, Murray Bancroft and Mary Bancroft; fourth place with 34.75 points, Rick McDonald, Jo-Ann McDonald, Bill Shortreed, and Valerie Shortreed; fifth place with 23.25 points, Barb Alexander, Michael Alexander, Velam Locking and Bob Steiss. In the recent men’s bonspiel sponsored by Huron Feeding Sy­ stems and Brussels Agromart the winners were: first with 55.75 points, Doug Rathwell, Howie Pru- den, Steve Rathwell and Rick Graham; second with 41 points, Ernie Lewington, Stew Steiss, Merle Hoegy and Neil Mitchell; third with 40.5 points, Orval Bauer, Mervyn Bauer, Wayne Lowe and George Langlois; fourth with 38.5 points, Velma Locking, Fran Brem- ner, Nora Stephenson, Jo-Ann McDonald and Joyce Alexander; fifth with 37.75 points, Ross Veitch, Brad Speiran, Brian Warwick and Keith Williamson.
