Phone 526-7589 4H members judge baking BY LAUREL CAMPBELL The fourth meeting of the Auburn Dough-Nuts got underway at 4:15. Again the meeting was held at two homes Regina Camp­ bell’s and Lorraine Carnes’s. At Regina’s, members made cinna­ mon rolls. They all got to put together one part of the ingredi­ ents. They also made buns with different shapes and sizes. They all 6 tables at euchre There were six tables at the euchre party held at the Commun­ ity Hall on Tuesday evening, February 27. Prizes went to: high lady, Marion Haggitt; low lady, Lillian Appleby; Don 7 call police for road information The Ontario Provincial Police are asking that people not call their detachments for road condition reports. The number of telephone calls from the public this winter requesting road conditions has placed a strain on detachments and the new Telecom Centres across the province. On days of particular­ ly bad weather, telephone lines have been jammed preventing people in emergency situations used their imagination. They all got to taste the cinnamon rolls and the imaginatively-shaped buns. They all found them very delicious. They got to judge four different plates of cinnamon rolls. At the next meet­ ing members will be making soft pretzels. Thank you was said to Regina and Lorraine for the use of their kitchens. Euchre parties are held every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall. from getting their calls through. Snihur conducted the first Lenten service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organ­ ist. Call to Worship was read alter­ nately followed by the hymn “Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine”. Rev. Snihur gave the Prayer of Approach, followed by the Lord’s Prayer in unison. Child­ ren’s song was “I’ve Got Peace Like a River”, and Rev. Snihur told their story. Poetry opens Walkerburn Club On Tuesday, February 27 the Walkerburn Club met at Mrs. B. Thomson’s home. Mrs. Lloyd Pen- found, the vice president opened the meeting with two poems “Four People” and “Go on with your knitting”. This was followed by prayer and repeating The Lord’s Prayer in unison. The secretary read the minutes and letters received. Roll call was answered on “Reduce, Re-use and Re-cycle”. The draw, donated by Mrs. Thomson, was won by Mrs. D. Collins. The March meeting will be at Mrs. I. Moore’s home and Mrs. Keith Lapp and Mrs. Ethel Ball will be in charge of the lunch, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Tom Cunnigham will be the program organizers. Plans are for a guest speaker. Roll call for March will be “Household Hints”. Discussion arose re - the upcom­ ing shower on March 26 for Joy (McClinchey) Porter, a recent bride “For Those Tears I Died” was sung followed by the prayer chorus “God is so Good”. Rev. Snihur’s sermon was entitl­ ed, “Peter: Trials into Triumph, The Letter of Hope!” The offering was received by Brian Gross and Marinus Bakker and dedicated. The hymn “He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought” was sung. Rev. Snihur pronounced the Benediction followed by the Response “I be­ lieve that the Christ who was slain on the Cross.” and Barbara Gross, a bride-to-be. It will be held in Knox United Church. Mrs. Penfound offered to put boxes in various village stores. Money for the Walkerbum dis­ trict gift is to be left at Mrs. Penfound’s or Mrs. Thomson’s Community extends sympathy Sympathy is extended to Arnold Craig on the death of his wife Maude who passed away Thurs­ day, March 1 at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich in her 79th year. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Helesic visited with her parents Emerson and Phyllis Rodger on Saturday. Also visiting were granddaughter Patti and her husband Randy Maize and great-granddaughter Jeni and Jes­ sica. Congratulations to Dana and Joyce Bean on the birth of a son Young people from the church are invited to the Sunday School Crokinole Party at Londesboro Church on Thursday evening, March 15. The annual church skating party will be held Sunday, March 18 from 3 - 4 p.m. at the Clinton Arena. Old Fashion Country Supper will be held at Knox United Church on April 4. Settings at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7p.m. Tickets will be sold after Church on March 18. home. A very successful miscella­ neous sale was held with Mrs. J. Verwey, the very capable auctioneer. Hot chocolate milk and delicious cookies served by Mrs. Thomson and Mrs. Norman brought the meeting to a close. Anthony Thomas, a wee brother for Michael and Brett and grandson for Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bean. Mr. William Anderson of New­ market visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson and also Greg and Nancy Park to celebrate Greg’s birthday on Sunday. A shower will be held in Knox United Church on March 26 at 8 p.m. for the recent bride Joy (McClinchey) Porter and the bride- to-be Barbara Gross. Boxes for this are at various locations in Auburn.
