Londesboro Londesboro Happy Gang seniors to host Huronview birthday party Compiled by Mrs. June Fothergill. Phone 523-4360 Hymn sing held at United Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, March 4 were Harvey and Yvonne Hoggart. Ush­ ers were Pau! Jewitt, Danny Hog­ gart, Murray Whyte, and Brent Howatt. This was hymn-sing Sun- Burns UCW guests at prayer service The World Day of Prayer Service was held in the church on Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m. Burns United Church Women were guests as about 30 ladies attended. Those taking part in the service were Dorothy Tamblyn, Renee Snell, Josephine MacGre­ gor, Gay Salverda, Hattie Woods, Margaret Wright, and Bernice Norman. Scripture was read by Mrs. Rick Archambault. Hymns sung were “Seek Ye First” and “O Lord of all our Fathers”. Rev. Snihur spoke. Renee Snell closed with prayer. This service took the place of the March U.C.W. meeting. Lunch was served by Betty Hulley and Renee Snell. Dough Girls put new twist on bread baking BY JULIE ELSTON The second meeting of the Belgrave No. 1 Dough Girls was held Monday, February 5 with 12 members present. The meeting was held in the W.l. Hall, Belgrave starting with the 4H pledges. The meeting was about Rising and Rolling bread dough. They also learned how to shape the bread dough. During this meeting the club made a whole wheat twist loaf and basic white bread. They were both delicious. The club then ended the meeting with the 4H pledge. The third meeting of the Bel­ grave #1 Dough Girls was held Monday, February 19 with 13 members present and starting with the 4H pledge. The meeting was about good bread choices for every meal of the day. They also talked about differ­ ent food choices and the types of bread that there are. During this meeting they finished making a refrigerator crescent roll batch which one of our leaders started at home. They were delicious! The club then closed the meeting with the 4H pledge. The fourth meeting of the Bel­ grave No. 1 Dough Girls was held Monday, February 26 with 13 members present and started with the 4H pledge. During this meeting they learned about all different kinds of bread. Some of them were very interesting like *he Bow Knots and the Spiral Twists They made Chelsea Buns, a favourite among many. They were very delicious. They also judged three loaves of White Bread. They all rated very well. They talked about tips for judging and closed the meeting with the 4H motto. high, Ted Fothergill; men’s lorn hands, Ken Hulley; men’s low Watson Reid. The February meeting of Londesboro Happy Gang Seniors was held at the Hall on Wednes­ day, February 28. About 40 members sat down to a pot luck dinner. They had birthday cake for dessert. The meeting opened with O Canada. Mary Dale gave a reading on Income Tax. The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. Treasur­ er’s report was given. It is Happy Gang’s turn for the Huronview Birthday Party on March 21. Mem­ bers are to take cookies and squares. Clare Vincent gave a reading on “Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody”. The March meeting is on March 28. Wear something green for St. Patrick’s Day. The pot luck dinner is at 12 o’clock sharp. Addie Hunking and Reta Kelland will look after the kitchen. Helen Lee thanked those who helped at the hospital euchre. Roll call was taken up. The sermon topic was “Peter: Trials into Triumph, The Letter of Hope - (Part 1) Taking Time to be Holy”. Bible Study and Prayer Group will meet on Friday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Gail Dobie, Auburn. The annual Church Skating Party will be Sunday, March 18 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Clinton arena. The Sunday School crokinole party is at the school at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, March 15. The March meeting of the Londesboro Women’s Institute is on Wednesday, March 14 at 8 p.m. Roll call is “Give an interesting fact or comment about France”. 4H members will be guests and will entertain. Guest speaker is Lori Jewitt who will speak about her student exchange in France.
