West Wawanosh council accepts $297,400 road budget West Wawanosh Council receiv­ ed and accepted the road budget for this year in the amount of $297,400 at its regular meeting on February 6. Building permits were issued to Noah Stutzman for a syrup shed, Jacob Miller to move a house, house addition and barn, and to Raymond Copeland for an addition. Council authorized Clerk-Trea­ surer Joan Armstrong to contact several consultants in Kitchener- Waterloo and one in Owen Sound and request bids to perform an energy audit on the public works garage. These are to be submitted to Council for comparison and availability of personnel to carry out the project. Mrs. Armstrong and Reeve Cecil Cranston were authorized to apply to the Ministry of Transportation for supplementary allocation of subsidy money in the amount of $104,000 to cover construction costs of the culvert on concession 4-5 and $16,000 for the estimated road assessment for the construc­ tion of the Andrews-Finnigan Municipal Drain improvement and expansion. A letter is to be sent to Huron and Kinloss Municipal Telephone System asking that in the future the company notify the road superin­ tendent if the company must perform work for which the muni­ cipality may or will be invoiced, and/or when the type of work to be carried out may cause damage to road property/installation. The Road Superintendent was authorized to build up a portion of Joseph St. in Dungannon and purchase sufficient eight inch an^ 10 inch plastic drainage tile ter installation along the street, v/ith catch basins. The project is intend­ ed to alleviate the recurring flood water problems in that area/ Council authorized payipent of the road accounts in the amount of $33,029.68. A special meeting was held on February 13 to discuss unfinished Private electricity producers showing strong interest Ontario Hydro has received 40 proposals for new electric genera­ tion projects from private electri­ city producers. The proposals, which average about 160 megawatts of electricity, will only be accepted if they deliver reliable power at or below the same cost as power produced by Ontario Hydro, and if they meet the government’s environmental re­ quirements. The predominant fuel source of the proposals is natural gas. Other primary fuels proposed include municipal solid waste, landfill gas and peat. business from the previous meet­ ing. Two applicants for the position of Drainage Superintendent were in­ terviewed and the application of Joe Hanna was approved for a six-month probationary period. Mr. Hanna will be required to attend the Drainage superinten­ dent course conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in . Waterloo from March 5 to 9. Landfill site supervisor Robert McAllister received a pay increase from $8.50 to $10.00 beginning January, 1990. Payment of the general account in the amount of $18,656.42 was authorized by Council.
