Hullett students visited by dental hygenists DENTAL HYGENIST by Michael Dejong On Tuesday, January 30 the dental hygenists came to our school and showed each class a video on teeth. Each student received a tooth brush and dental floss to use at home. BOX SOCIAL FOR GRADE SEVENS by Lyndsey Salverda On Monday, March 5 and Wed­ nesday, March 7, grade 7 is having a box social. The class will be split in half and half of the students will make a lunch on Monday and the other half buy, then on Wednesday it is the other way around. been fortunate to have had a presentation at the school by their personnel earlier in the year. We left the school at 9 a.m. and returned to the school at approxi­ mately 3:30 p.m. HERITAGE WEEK by Maria Stepan Last week was Heritage week. The purpose for Heritage week is to learn more about our country, Canada. Mr. Snell’s grade 6’s and 7’s have been asked questions by their teachers about Canada. Heri­ tage Week makes us look back from when Canada first started and now how it has developed since the heritage sites attract tourists. Heri­ tage Week is like giving our past a future. The boys won two games and lost one, same with the girls. On Wednesday, January 31 both volleyball teams from Blyth came. The boys played three games and the girls played two. The Blyth boys won all three games while the Hullett girls won both their games. The volleyball tournament was held on Saturday, February 3 at Central Huron Secondary School. The shorts and pants were on back order and recently have come in. They are really comfortable and everyone is satisfied. It was well worth the wait! by Lyndsey Salverda On February 23, Hullett Central School had a P.D. day because the Hullett teachers and the teachers from Victoria Public School went to see a presentation at Benmiller Inn. There were three presenters there: Joan Irvine, who conducted a hands-or workshop on unique book making techniques for the publication of students’ stories and Patty Brereton and Bill Farnell, who made a presentation on “The Rocky Road to Writing”. The theme for the day was called “The Writing Process”. PUBLIC SPEAKING by Melissa Hanna On Thursday, February 15 there was the school Public Speaking contest. All of the speakers did an excellent job. The winners in the junior compe­ tition were: Shannon Scott, (first); Chris Knox, (second); Karen Trick, (third). The winners in the senior compe­ tition were: Jason Dalton, (first); Lyndsey Salverda, (second); Chamney, (third). Ryan Riley TEACHERS by Paula Allen Mr. Millson and Mr. attended a conference in Toronto on Thursday, February 8 and 9. It was called “Reading For The Love Of It”. They enjoyed it very much and brought back a great deal of information to share with the other staff members.
