Phone 523-4360 Hospital Aux. makes $287 for new x-ray machine UCW gives $100 to Rock-a-Thon The Hospital Auxiliary card party was held at the hall on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. There were 13 tables of euchre. Proceeds received were $287 to go towards payment of the new x-ray machine. The committee would like to thank everyone who came and donated. Special thanks also to those who provided the lunch and prizes and helped in so many ways. Winners for the afternoon were: high , first, Elizabeth Lawson; second, Reg. Lawson; third, Alice Buchanan; lone hands, first, Jo- 10 tables at WI euchre The Women’s Institute Euchre was held at the Londesboro hall on Friday evening, February 23. There were 10 tables of euchre.** Lucky winners were: high lady, Marjorie Anderson; ladies’ lone hands, Margaret Taylor; ladies’ low, Lillian Leatherland, Auburn; men’s high. Marg Anderson (play­ ing as a man); men’s lone hands, Lloyd Appleby, Blyth; men’s low, Marion Haggit, Auburn (playing as a man). The next euchre is on Friday, March 9. anne McDonald; second, Ruth Shaddick; low, first, Vietta Hog­ gart; second, Ida Proctor; lucky table, Mary Longman, Hazel Reid, Josephine MacGregor and Tom Cunningham; lucky draw winners, Alvin Proctor, Nellie Brock, Ruth Jenkins, Roy Krauter, Audrey Thompson, Wilma Radford, Iso- belle Scanlon, Betty Hulley, Beth Knox, Marg Anderson and Cliff Saundercock. Shuffleboard results Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Central School on Wednesday evening, February 21 at 8 p.m. Sixteen people were present. High man was Harry Lear and high lady was Marjorie Varley. There will be no shuffleboard on Wednesday evening, February 28. The February meeting of Londesboro U.C.W. was held on Monday evening, February 19 at the church at 8 p.m. Brenda Radford introduced members to the mission study. A film strip was shown about the mosiacs of nationalities who form the United Church. Brenda also spoke about our church moderator Rev. Sang Lee. Hymn 366 was sung to open the worship service. The scripture was read by Marion Snell. Ruth Shad­ dick led in prayer. Hymn 84, “He’s got the whole world in His Hands”, was sung. The business part of the meeting opened with the Purpose. The minutes of the January meeting New 4Hpet club begins Londesboro II 4H club, the Pets “R” Us held their first meeting on Friday, February 23 at Jeremy Westerveld’s farm. An election was held the final decision was: president, Marilyn van den Elzon; vice president, Jeremy Westerveld; secretary, Kent Shillinglaw and press repor­ ter, Karla Stacey. were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given by Dorothy Tamblyn. Kitty McGregor gave the executive officers list. She also gave a report on the annual meeting in Seaforth. Westminster weekend is Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3. The U.C.W. will donate $100 to Rock-a-Thon being held at the church. Next meeting will be held on World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 2 at the church at 2 p.m. Collection was taken up. Brenda spoke about making the banner for the meeting in Centralia. Corres­ pondence was read. Pets “R” Us had fun meeting each other and learned what kind of animals would be good as pets. and Country Homemakers and Bluewater Club for the Blind for donations. Letters of thanks received by Hattie Wood were from Jessies Centre for Teenagers and Focus for Change, both in Toronto where she sent White Gifts before Christmas. The meeting closed with the Bene­ diction. Grace was sung. Lunch was served by Mary Peel and Gail Lear. Londesboro Lions donate $4,915 The Londesboro Lions approved several donations amounting to $4,915 at their meeting of February 15. The largest contribution will go to the Lions Quest Program for books and supplies in the amount of $655. Other donations include: $400 towards the purchase of a bus to transport children to swimming lessons; $300 to Parkwood Hospital for a new research wing; $250 to the Youth Exchange Program and $200 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. ‘In His Steps' topic of sermon 66CH05 28" MTS Stereo Monitor/Receiver Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, February 25 were Mel and Barbara Knox. Ushers were Tim Airdrie, Brent Howatt, Paul Jewitt and Kevin Shillinglaw. Sermon topic was “In His Steps”. World Day of Prayer Service is on Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at the church. Bible Study and Prayer Group are cancelled for this week. An interdenominational Lenten Service will be held Sunday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Blyth United Church of God. A special one-night study group on the Authority and Interpretation of Scripture will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6 at the Church.r People Best wishes of the community are sent to Mrs. George (Vietta) Hoggart who had the misfortune to fall on the ice on Friday breaking her hip. She is presently a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London. 4H club elects officers BY BRIAN MACHAN On Monday, February 19, 1990, the Londesboro I, 4H club held their first meeting. They opened the meeting by saying the 4H pledge, after that they then had their elections. The results were as follows: President, Kevin Camp schroer; Vice President, Kathy Bos; Secretary, Nick ten Hag; and press reporter, Brian Machan.
