Hullett gets emergency plan
Hullett Council passed a by-law
on January 29 at its regular
meeting to establish a peacetime
emergency plan. This plan would
assist in protecting property and
the health, safety, and welfare of
the inhabitants in an emergency
area.
Reeve Tom Cunningham was
appointed to the Economic
Development Strategy Committee
while Deputy-Reeve Joe Gibson
was selected as alternate.
Council agreed to make a dona
tion of $25 to the Londesboro
Senior Citizen’s group for hosting
other senior’s clubs.
It was decided that the 4H Club
would be permitted to use Londes
boro Hall for 12 meetings rent-free.
The accounts in the amount of
$51,465.37 were approved for pay
ment.
Council passed a by-law to
amend a previous by-law to change
the zone symbols on part lot 21 of
Cone. 11 from general agriculture
to agriculture commercial indus
trial and from general agriculture
to general agriculture with special
provisions for reduced lot size from
the present zoning which calls for
lot sizes of 21 hectares. And the
third change is from general agri
culture to general agriculture with
special provisions for test plots in
that area.
Obituaries
MILDRED AMELIA GARRETT
Mrs. Mildred Amelia Garrett of
Blyth died on February 15, 1990 at
Clinton Public Hospital. She was 90
years of age.
Born in Carrick Township in
Bruce County on February 8, 1990,
Mrs. Garrett was the daughter of
the late John Scheerer and Chris
tina Holthauer. She married Alvan-
ley Garrett who predeceased her
and she was a member of Clinton
Gospel Hall.
Mrs. Garrett was the beloved
mother of Marion and Russell Cook
of Blyth, Mae and Horst Rilling of
Waterloo, Doreen Giles of London,
Murray and Pat Garrett of Clinton
and Leonard Garrett of London.
She is also survived by one sister
Mrs. Henry (Emma) Wildfong of
Hanover, 21 grandchildren, 33
great-grandchildren and one great
great-grandson.
Besides her parents and her
husband Mrs. Garrett was prede
ceased by a daughter, Jean; two
sons, Earl and Douglas; three
sisters, Maudie Priess, Lizzie Ste
wart, and Tena Chittick and by
seven brothers Henry, Eli, Albert,
Gotlieb, Charles, William and
Louis Scheerer.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, February 17 at 2 p.m. at
the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home
“Ball Chapel’’. Mr. George Patter
son of Clinton Gospel Hall officiat
ed.
Pallbearers were: Keith Backert,
James MacDonald, Douglas Mc
Donald, David McKinley, William
van Moorsei and Willis Switzer.
Interment will be at Blyth Union
Cemetery.
