On Feb. 5 the team paid a visit to Belmore and scored a 5-2 win. The teams played to a 1-1 first period tie with Kirk Krieger scor ing from Don Gibson and Brent Robinson at 7:20 of the period but Belmore tying the score just under a minute later. Ryan Cook scored an unassisted goal in the second as Belgrave took the lead. Early in the third Brian Marks helped stretch the lead when he scored from Brent Robin son. Five minutes later Brent Robinson scored an unassisted goal to widen the margin. Belmore counted one more goal before Brian Marks scored from Wayne Fenton and Brent Robinson to close out the scoring. The following night Brent Robin son gave the hometown team a first period lead scoring from Kirk Krieger and Ryan Cook. The lead hel> up until the third period when Hensail scored three unanswered goals for a 3-1 victory. Bulls beat Hawks , meet Sailors next Continued from page 29 Jason Kraemer gave the Bulls a short-lived lead as Walkerton re plied seconds later to the score at seven. J. C. Hewitt completed his hat-trick while McKee added an insurance goal with 54 seconds remaining. Walkerton skated to the end, scoring a final goal with five seconds left in the contest. The game was highly spirited with 164 minutes in penalties called. The following night in Walkerton the Bulls took a 2-0 series lead with a 5-3 win. After splitting four early period goals, Jamie Gibbings and Craig King each scored on the powerplay for a 4-2 first period lead. Jason Kraemer notched the only goal of the middle frame while Walkerton ended the scoring sum mary early in the third period for a 5-3 Bulls win. Kurt Wall was unsuccessful on a penalty shot effort late in the second period ringing a shot off the goal post. Again the game was physical with 140 minutes in penalties assessed. Friday night in Brussels, Walk erton literally “fought” off elimi nation with a 5-4 victory in a game which saw 225 penalty minutes called including eight fighting majors. The game remained scoreless until late in the second period when goals by Steve Fritz at 10:32, Corey McKee at 15:10 and J. C. Hewitt at 16:24 were matched by Hawk’s goals at 13:18, 15:47, and 16:41. Walkerton broke the alternating of goals pattern scoring with 90 seconds remaining in the period for a 4-3 Blackhawk lead after two periods. While playing three skaters aside Hewitt, with his second of the game tied the score on a Bevin Flett pass. The assist was Flett’s third of the game. Walkerton scored the winner with two minutes remaining and while, with their goalie on the bench, the Bulls stormed the BlackHawk net they fell short by a single shot. The Bulls now advance to the group semi-final against the Goderich Sailors, who eliminated Mount Forest three games straight. Game one in the best of seven series is in Brussels Friday at 9:00 with game two in Goderich Sunday night. Game three is set for Tuesday night in Brussels.
