Blyth Pee Wees play good game but out of playoffs BY RUSTY BLADES Blyth once again rallied witn two After tying their playoff series . late second period goals 21 seconds with Wallace on Monday, January 29 Blyth Pee Wees were eliminated from further Ontario playoff action last Tuesday in Wallace as Todd Norman beat Blyth 6-2. Facing elimination in game two in Blyth the locals played one of their best games of the season as they squared the series at one game each with a 5-4 victory. Henry Bos and Mike Bromley gave Blyth an early 2-0 lead as they both scored a goal and assisted on each other’s first period goal. Wallace stormed back for a 3-2 second period advantage before apart. Bos and Bromley teamed up again to tie the game 3-3 as Henry Bos assisted on Mike Bromley’s power play tally. Perserverance paid off for Blyth’s fourth goal as Ryan Chamney poked in a loose puck from close range after a Brian McNichol shot. Confusion around the Wallace net led to Blyth’s game-winning goal with three and one half minutes left in the game as Tim Lyons skated in unchecked and tipped in a loose puck past an embarrassed Wallace goaltender. Although Wallace added one more goal, Blyth’s lead stood up as they evened the best of three series at one game each with this enthusias­ tic 5-4 win. The celebration was short lived as Blyth visited Wallace the next night, on Tuesday, January 30 for the final game of the series where they were eliminated from further play with a 6-2 loss. Blyth got behind early and never recovered as Wallace scored two goals in the first one minute and thirteen seconds of the game, including a power play marker. Blyth closed the gap five minutes later as Mike Bromley scored on a screen shot after a nice set ud from period. Tim Lyons got one back for Blyth as his backhand shot found the mark to finish off an exciting breakaway. Jerrod Button. The third period was a see-saw battle, as the play rushed from end to end. Both goalies displayed some nice saves at both ends with Scott Bromley doing the job in the Blyth net. Lucknow scored twice early in the third to take a 3-2 lead. With the game tied 3-3 Blyth was awarded a penalty shot with two minutes left. Michael Haggitt took his first penalty shot and made good, deking the surprised Luck­ now goalie.
