Friday, Feb. 2 the Brussels

to Seaforth for a game with the
Seahawks but Seaforth folded their
team earlier in the week, thus
cancelling the game. Brussels how
ever was awarded the two points
because they are still in the race for
first place overall. All other teams
who had games left with Seaforth
were also awarded the two points
for their games.
Saturday night saw the team
playing host to the Arthur Tigers.
Arthur opened the scoring 3:20 into
the game when Eck Palmer scored
from Ray Hutchison. Brussels tied
the score six minutes later when
Dave Stephenson and Kevin Deit-

second period ended with the
Crusaders holding a 3-2 lead.
Once again a little over two
minutes into the third period

from Campbell and Pocaluyko.
However Arthur didn’t give in as
they scored a minute and a half
later with Hutchison getting the
goal from Smith and Fred Locking
to cut the lead to one. Then Epoch

Sunday saw the Crusaders on the
road to Grand Valley for a 7:30
start.
One minute into the game Brus
sels opened the scoring when Brian

scored from Fritz and McArter.
Two minutes later Ken Cousins

Watson and Dave Stephenson.
Grand Valley finished the second
period scoring with 22 seconds left
to make the score 6 - 3 for Brussels
after two periods of play.

third. It was four minutes later
when Montgomery scored again to
regain the three goal lead with Ten
Pas and Pocaluyko drawing assists
on the play.
Grand Valley made it a two-goal
difference again just 26 seconds

Campbell scored his second of the
game with McArter and Rob Car

Mark Harding then added to the
lead when he finished off a play
from Cousins and Kevin Deitner.

minutes later when Fritz and
Cardiff combined to set up a goal
by McArter to make the final score
10 - 5 for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders will travel back to
Grand Valley on Tuesday, Feb. 6
for a 9 o’clock game which will

Blyth Novices beat
home teamBrussels
Brussels scored early in this
game on a goal-mouth pile-up but-
the rest of the game belonged to
Blyth.
Jeff Cowan led the points parade
picking up six, and Darryl Bromley
getting three. Michael Courtney,
Michael Haggitt and Amanda An
derson each picked up two points
each with Jason Badley and
Michael Ansley holding out with
one point each.
On Sunday, Feb. 4 Blyth travell
ed to Clifford and took part in their
Funfest Day. This would be a real
battle as two of the top E-teams
locked horns. The first two periods
were fast but very offensive. Clif
ford scored first early in the game
but Blyth tied the score late in the
first, Jeff Cowan beating the
Clifford goalie on a set-up by
Darryl Bromley.
Blyth took a 2-1 lead early in the
third. This opened the flood gates
once again with Jeff Cowan and
Darry’ Bromley combining.
Michael Courtney showed his scor
ing touch adding two more goals,
both set up by Michael Haggitt.
Blyth seemed to have the game
in hand when Jeff Cowan scored an
unassisted goal putting Blyth up 5
to 1. With six minutes left in the
game Blyth got careless and Clif
ford scored three straight goals
making the score 5 to 4. Chris
Carter scored a big goal with two
minutes left with Michael Courtney
and Michael Haggitt setting up the
play to seal the victory. The final
score was Blyth 6, Clifford 4. Scott
Bromley played well in net helped
out by solid defensive pairings of
Michael Ansley and Jeff Johnston
and Jason Badley and Jeremiah
Hamm. Blyth Novice “A” starts
their playoffs this Thursday, Feb. 8
in Blyth against Wallace at 7 p.m.
