Brussels P.S. welcomes new students
NEW STUDENTS IN
BRUSSELS PUBLIC
There have been eight new stu
dents enrolled in our school since
the first day back from the Christ
mas holidays. We decided it would
be a good topic to write about for
the Citizen. We asked the eight
students a few questions and this is
what they told us.
The first was Wendy Thompson,
and her two brothers Craig and Ian
from Goderich. All three have
made new friends. Wendy in grade
six misses her old friends but Craig
in grade four and Ian in grade one
don’t have time to think about their
old friends because they are too
busy with their new friends. They
will be moving to Krauter Court.
All three like Brussels.
The next three are Kelly Anne
Mullen in grade four, her sister
Patricia in grade three and her
brother Joey in grade one. They are
from Kitchener but now live on
Flora Street. The three have met
new friends but they miss their old
friends. They like Brussels because
it is a small town.
St. Marys. He showed slides of a
town in Nicaraugua where the
United Church of Canada is work
ing with the native people to
rebuild a school, church and other
buildings that had been destroyed
during the 1989 hurricane. Mrs.
Ross Higgins thanked the speaker
and presented him with a gift.
During the business meeting
which followed it was announced
that the World Day of Prayer would
be held March 2 at 2 p.m. in the
Anglican Church, also that the
Belgrave U.C.W will cater to Blyth
Festival Theatre’s Country Suppers
on July 14 and 21.
Mrs. Harold Vincent gave a
report of the Huron-Perth Presby-
terial Annual meeting which was
held in Seaforth on January 22.
The closing hymn was Thank you
Lord, followed by a poem, In His
Footsteps, read by Mrs. Gordon
Bosman.

The prizes were donated by
Clifford Stevens. The euchre on
Friday, Feb. 9 will be sponsored by
the Canadian Order of Foresters.
The youngest additions to our
school are Matthew Purcell and
Nicole Mastnak in Kindergarten.
Matthew and Nicole are both from
Kitchener. Nicole now lives on
Alexander St. and Matthew is a bus
student. Both of them have met
new friends and miss their old
friends. Matthew likes Brussels
Public because it is a small school
and Nicole likes Brussels because
she has a really big back yard.
We would like to welcome the
new students to Brussels Public.
VOLLEY BALL TOURNAMENT
On Saturday, January 27, our
school went to F. E. Madill
Secondary School for a volleyball
tournament.
The teams that played were Grey
Central, Howick, Turnberry, East
Wawanosh, Wingham and of
course Brussels.
The boys didn’t do very well.
They lost all of their games. The
girls’ team won one game against
Wingham. However their spirits
are not down and hopefully we all
do better at the next tournament.
