Induction held at Blyth United Blyth’s street scapegot a new look Tuesday, January 30 when a huge crane began lifting trusses to the top of the Blyth Festival’s administration building at the corner of Queen and Dinsley Streets. Part of the million dollar renovation of Blyth Memorial Hall, theadministration building will get a new look to tie it in with the appearance of Memorial Hall next door. After the meal, John Hessel- wood, president, held a short business meeting, beginning with a lively sing-song led by Lloyd Wal­ den with Ella Richmond at the piano. Happy Birthday was sung to Isabel Craig as hers was the only birthday in January. After the usual reports were adopted, John read an invitation to attend the Dessert Euchre on February 1 hosted by the Women’s Institute in the Blyth Hall. He also read an invitation from the Auburn Silver Tops to meet with them on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. for Dessert Euchre. John then gave a report from the Hall Board as he is the representative from the Seniors. The meeting was closed and games followed. The results are as follows: Lost Heir, high lady, Blyth. People Alice Buchanan and Ted East had the high scores at the weekly Monday night euchre party at Blyth Memorial Hall January 29. Lillian Appleby and Walter Pep­ per had the low scores. Vera Hesselwood and Kathy Bromley had the most lone hands. The special prize was won by June Jacklin. There were 13 tables in Play. At the Lost Heir meeting Wed-^ nesday night, Gene Snell and Lloyd Walden had the high scores. Margaret Nesbit and Millar Rich­ mond had the low scores. Feme Howatt won the special prize. Gladys Johnston; high man, Graeme McDowell; low lady, Janet Lawrie; low man, Alvin Snell. Euchre, high lady, Ida Proctor; high man, Jim Lawrie; low lady, Clara Rinn; low man, Murray Scrimgeour. In crokinole the winner was Vera Hesselwood. Conservatory music results announced Several area music students successfully tried their theory examinations in Blyth, last month. For Grade Two Rudiments Stephanie Lentz and Lisa Mary Cairncross both received First Class Honours with Distinction. Heather Leanne Wheeler got First Class Honours with Distinc­ tion in Grade One Rudiments while Denise Janelie Hiller achieved First Class Honours. Greeting the congregation were Harvey and Feme Mcdowell. Ushers were Stewart and Mil­ dred Ament, Steven Webster and Debbie Craig. Hymns were “O Worship the King” and “Jesus Bids Us Shine”. The scripture reading was Luke 5, verses 1-11. In charge of Junior Congregation was Susan Haggitt and Nursery leader was Frances Bearss. The senior choir’s anthem was entitled “I Believe in a Hill called Mount Calvary”, accompanied by Mrs. Phylis Boak on the organ. Rev. Ramirez along with Adeline Campbell, clerk of session, conduc­ ted the induction ceremony which saw the following members being inducted as new members of session: Bernice Chambers, Mar­ lene Toll, Fred DeBoer, Bill Burk­ holder, Stephen Caldwell and Bar­ bara Richmond. Inducted into vari­ ous other committees were Nancy Pawitch, Mary Walden, Vera Hes­ selwood, Bev Snell, Margaret Cald­ well and Brenda Brooks.
