The win was the second on Barons ice for the Bulls and gave the Juniors a four win, one loss, one tie record against Hanover in their maiden season of Jr. C hockey. Hanover opened the scoring early in the game before two powerplay goals from J. C. Hewitt gave the Bulls a 2-1 first period lead. Brussels added two second peri od goals, Marty Rutledge at 2:37 and Jason Kraemer at 3:25, both on powerplay opportunities for a 4-1 lead after two periods. Thirteen seconds into the final frame the Bulls notched their fifth consecutive powerplay goal when Rutledge scored his second of the game for a 5-1 lead. Hanover’s physical style of play and a time clock that kept*forgetting to start caused the Bulls to lose their cool and two Baron goals 40 seconds apart cut the margin to 5-3 with 12 minutes to play. Fortunately the Juniors regained their composure and with eight minutes remaining newcomer Mike Bettles was sent in alone, deked the goalie and tucked the puck upstairs for the final goal in a 6-3 Bulls win. J. C. Hewitt was named the game’s third star while Marty Rutledge with a five-point effort was the game’s first star. Murray Foxton gave the Bulls outstanding goaltending stopping 37 shots, for his twelfth win of the year. LOCK UP YOUR FIRST MONTH FOR $1.
