Clifford is undefeated in their
league to the North. Blyth out-
skated Clifford, the first period, but
only managed one goal near the
end. Darryl Bromley’s persistent
fore-checking paid off, causing a
loose puck on the Clifford goal line
allowing Michael Haggitt to com
plete the play for Blyth’s first goal.
Early in the second period,
Michael Haggitt beat the Clifford
goalie, on a pretty passing play
from Jeff Cowan, for Blyth’s se
cond goal. Clifford out-played
Blyth most of the second period,
and made the game close again, as
their shifty defenceman Kent
Debrwyn scored with three minutes
left in the second period, to make it
a 2 - 1 game. After a ten minute
break, Blyth took control of the
game, and found their skating legs
in the third period. Four minutes
into the third period Jeff Cowan,
scored Blyth’s third goal with
Darryl Bromley and Michael Hag-
git doing the corner work.
Blyth made the hockey game 4 to
1 late in the third, when Michael
Haggitt tallied his third goal on a
set up by Jeff Cowan. Good
goal-tending by Scott Bromley and
solid defence by Michael Ansley,
Jeremiah Hamm and Jason Badley,
played a big part in this win.
Blyth Novice A will be busy next
week as they host Wingham this
Thursday, Jan. 4 in Blyth and
travel to Seaforth on Saturday, Jan.
6 at 4 p.m. and the following day to
Listowel for a 4:15 p.m. game.
win over Belgrave
The Blyth Tykes are doing very
well this year, and have so far won
six games and lost three in their
regular schedule.
On Saturday, Dec. 23 they
hosted Belgrave and skated away
with a convincing 11-0 win. Jeremy
VanAmersfoort was again Blyth’s
top goal scorer picking up seven
goals, Joel Arthur got two, while
assists went to Rick VanSteelandt
and Aaron Bakker. Assists went to
Shawn Bromley, three; Joel Arthur
two; David Ansley, two; Arron
Bakker, one; Rick VanSteelandt,
one; and Dean Wilson, one.
Blyth’s defence was strong the
whole game allowing only six shots
on net. Blyth’s next game will be
December 30 at 10 a.m. when they
will be at home to Clinton.
