Was very well prepared by Miss
Burns and read by Mrs. 1-1. Ferguson,
Mrs, Glad Edgar then took charge
of the program which consisted of
the carol, "Silent Night" and a paper
on 'Something done for Love," Rev.
Vogan gave an inspiring talk on the
spiritual meaning and message of
tile Christmas Tree and its decora-
tion. The group then sang "It Came
Upon the Midnight Clear," The meet-
ing closed with The King followed by
an exchange of gifts. A delicious
lunch was served by Mrs. C. Walrns-
ley, Mrs, C. Michael and Mrs. P, Ash-
ton.
Woman's Association
Mrs. Thos ,Edgar entertained the
W. A, of the United Church for their
December meeting. Mrs. Gordon
Edgar presided for the devotional
period for Group 4. The meeting
opened with a Christmas carol. Mrs.
C. Walmsley read the Christmas
story taken from Luke 2: 1-20. Mrs.
Edgar told of "Helping Home at
Christmas." She was assisted by Mrs.
Walmsley, Mrs. M. Irwin, Mrs. S, Ed-
gar, Mrs. H. Ferguson and Mrs. Geo.
Brown. Mrs. A. Toner offered prayer.
The president, Mrs. A. Hyndman,
conducted the business. Gratifying
financial reports were given by the
four groups and treasurer. Plans
were made for Christmas donations,
The nominating committee pre-
sented their slate of officers .Rev. R.
Watt presided for the election and
officers are as follows:

The S. S. children are presenting
their pageant "The Babe of Bethle-
hem" on Sunday evening, December
23rd., at 7.30 p.m.

The Gorrie Women's Institute held was decided to donate five dollars to
its Christmas meeting at the home of the London War Memorial Children's

ST. HELENS
Mrs. W. A. Miller was hostes4 for
the December meetings of the W.M.
S. and the W ,when in spite of
the wintry weather, 13 ladies were in
attendance. Mrs. W. I. Miller presided
and led in the worship service, which
took the form of a Canadian Friend-
ship Carol Service. The lighting of
the candles was interspersed with the
singing of a French Carol, a Germjn
Carol, a Polish Carol and a Canadian
Carol from the Hymnary, and an
Indian carol sung by Mrs, E. W. Rice.
Mrs. Frank McQuillin lit the candles
of good will and friendship for the
Jews of Canada. Mrs, G. MacPherson
for the Canadian Indians, Mrs. G.
Stuart for the French Canadians;
Mrs. C. MacDonald for those whose
ancestors came from Europe to found
new homes in Canada, Mrs, T. J. Todd
for all newcomers to Canada from
the war devastated lands of Europe,
and Mrs. J. Cameron, the candle of
Christian love. The treasurer reported
that the Thankoffering had been $26
and that $128 had been forwarded to
the Presbyterial Treasurer for the
three quarters.

Christmas Party
Group 4 of the United Church W.
A, enjoyed a Christmas party on Fri-
day evening in the S. S. room. A
short program was followed by con
tests .Leaders for 1952 were elected
as follows: Leader, Mrs. A. Toner,
assistant, Mrs, A, Edgar, treas., Mrs.
Tom Edgar.
The twenty-three ladies then ad-
journed to the Board Room where a
lovely candle-lighted table was laden
with good things which were enjoyed,
An exchange of gifts followed. A vote
of appreciation was tendered the
lunch committee and the 1951 leaders.
Anglican Church
On Monday evening of last week,
the second meeting of the Brother-
hood of Anglican Churchmen, was
held in the Orange Hall, Gerrie, when
an informative and social evening
was enjoyed. Lunch was served at
the close.
Singing of Christmas carols feat-
ured the service on Sunday after-
noon with Rev. I G. D, Vegan reading
passages of scripture from old and
new testaments referring to the birth
of Christ, Next Sunday will be the
Christmas Communion service.
L.O.B.A. Have Christmas Party
Following installation of officers
at their meeting last Tuesday even-
ing, members of the L.O.B.A, enjoy-
ed a Christmas party with exchange
of gifts, contests and refreshments.
Mrs. S. Zimmerman and Mrs. T. L.
McInnes were committee in charge
of games. .
United Church News
Christmas service next Sunday
morning will be a service of carols
and there will be a special Christmas
Message by Rev. R. Watt.
The Young People's Union will go
carol singing following the evening
service on Christmas Sunday, They
will sing carols outside the homes
of the shut-in folk of the village and
anyone desiring to sing with the
young people is cordially welcome.
Following the singing of carols they
will return to the parsonage for fel-
lowship and lunch.
The annual meeting for the con-
gregation has been set for Wednes-
day, January 16th.
Seven tables were in play on Wed-
nesday night when,the L.O,L. spon-
sored a progressive euchre in the
Orange Hall. Mrs. T. L ,McInnes had
highest score for ladies. Mr. Arthur
Chapman for the gents. Mrs. Rata
Carson won the lucky chair prize.
They are planning another euchre for
January 9th.
The Hockey Club sponsored a
euchre and dance on Monday of last
week, Prize winners at the euchre
yere, Mrs. Harry Hastie and Mr.
Burns Stewart.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Ferguson, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Ferguson, con .16,
were recent visitors with relatives at
Grand Bend.
Mrs. Watson of Brussels, is visiting
her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Hockridge
and Mr. Hockridge.
Mr. Harold Bell has taken a posi-
tion in Fergus.
Miss Burns is a patient in the Lis-
towel Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Geo. Robertson had the mis-
fortune to fall in her home on Thurs-
day injuring a vertebrae in her neck
and is suffering much pain.

mas story. Rev. S. E. Hayward pre-
sided for the election of officers, Mrs.
W. A, Miller presented the report of
the nominating committee, which was
accepted as follows:
