This meeting is al- ways an excellent opportunity for an exchange of problems and ideas. A general meeting was held in the morning with both fish and wildlife and forestry staff in attendance'. In the afteritoon, the meeting was divid- ed into two groups to discuss more specialized problems. The Zone Foresters in their meet- ing discussed improvement cutting on County Forests and private wood- lots, The five foresters who had a forestry trip to the states of Ohio, New York and Michigan gave re- ports on the highlights of this trip. The Fish and Wildlife section dis- cussed trapping, deer season in South- ern Ontario and other subjects per- taining to Fish and Wildlife. REGIONAL MEETING The Regional meeting of the South- Western Region of the Ontario De- partment of Lands and Forests was held at the Huron District Head- quarters, R. R. 1, Hespeler, on Friday, December 7th., 1951. The meeting was attended by the District Foresters, Zone Foresters. District Biologists, District Fish and Wildlife Inspectors, nursery staffs fcom St. Williams and Midhurst For,-:try Station and the Angus Seed I-Naacting plant. The South-Western Region includes the Districts of Erns. Huron and Simcoe. Mr. F. S. Ncnnian, Regional Fores- ter, was chairman for the morning meetings. The znneral meeting includ- ed the following topics: Forestry and Wildlife: —J. F. Gage, District Biolo- gist and E. M. Cressman, Zone For- ester; Hunting and Fishing on Pri- vate lands—E, F. Johnston, Forester, Reports on trips to the adjoining states in the U. S. A., were given by W. A. G. Thurston, Zone Forester; D. E, Gage, Zone Forester; L C. Mer- ritt, District Forester, and E. R. Mea- dows, District Fish and Wildlife In- spector, ' Dinner was served in the assembly room at District Headquarters. A very interesting trip was made to the St. Marys Wood Specialties. Lim- ited, Hespeler. where hockey sticks, basball bats and all types of wooden handles are manufactured. BORAH Euchre Club The second party of the 9th line euchre club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on Dec- ember 3rd., nine tables took part in cards with high prizes going to Ern- est Snowden and Mrs. Harold Woods. consolation prizes to Levi Diemen and Mrs. Harry Cook. Lunch was served and election of officers for the en- suing year tools place with Bert Thompson acting as chairman. Har- old Woods was elected treasurer and Mrs. Calvin Robinson as president. A few business details were attended to and a vote of thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Stonehouse brought the evening to a close. Mrs. Roy Robinson ,and Leonard, spent a few days with her mother, Mrs. Win. Humphrey. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dahmer of Kin- cardine, visited -at the home of their pisnum MEETING . On Friday ,November 30th, 1951, 50 members of the field staff of the Huron District of the Department of Lands and Forests gathered at the District Headuarters, at R, R. 1, Hes- peler, for a District meeting. This included the District staff, Zone For- az$1t-usazmwe-mc-tatatata-tetememitetwomel CONSERVATION CORNER daughter, Mrs, Harold Woods and Mr, Woods. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bosnian spent Sunday of last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Cook and Lois , Cook visited at th home of her sister, Mrs. Jas. Walsh over the week-end., Mr. and Mrs. George Martin and Martin Grasby, visited on Sunday of Crawford Motors Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woods enter- tained the euchre club last Friday evening at the school house. Ten tab- les played cards, winners were Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse and Mr. Wm. Dah- mer, low prize to Mrs. Bert Vincent and Harry Cook. Mrs. Calvin Robin- son asked to be relieved as President A and Mrs. Bert Thompson was elected ,a-, in her place. This was the last party A of 1951.
