Harrington, Woodstock lead.—Staff Photo. The annual meeting of the W.M.S. of Knox Presbyterian Church was held at the home of Mrs, Leitch, with a good attendance. The devotional service was taken by Mrs. Dunbar and. Mrs, J, C, Mc- Burney, Mrs, Bruce and Mrs Ross C. Anderson had charge of the topic) "Christmas Thoughts:, Mrs. R. J, Scott presided over the meeting, Mrs, 0 G. Anderson took the chair for the election of officers,and this resulted as follows: President, Mrs. J. C. Mc- Burney; Vice-presidents, Miss Mason and Mrs. CS, Nicholson; Treasurer, Mrs. Leitch; Secretary, Mrs. Bruce; other secretaries, Welcome and Wel- fare, Mrs. A. Scott; Supply, Mrs, Leitch; Home Helpers, Miss Mason; Glad Tidings, Mrs. R. J, Scott; Lit- erature, Mrs. R. C. Anderson; Organ- ists, Mrs Bruce and Mrs A. Scott; Auditors, Mrs. Dunbar and Mrs. 0, G. Anderson. The Auxiliary had an interesting and successful year and the members are looking forward to another just as good. The regular C.G.LT. meeting was held on Thursday, December 6th at 7,30 p.m. After the opening cere- mony,the secretary read the minutes of the last meeting. The treasurer then read her report. The Roll Call was answered. Marlene McKenzie and Gwen Walsh were appointed to take the next worship service. Ladies' Guild Bazaar The Recreation room of the Bel- grave Community Centre took on a festive appearance for the Bazaar held by the Ladies' Guild of Trinity Anglican Church , A large and varied assortment of articles were offered for sale and the tea tables were well patronized by the ladies. Members of the organization are well pleased with the success of their year's work. Mrs, Mervyn Stephan of London spent the week with Mr, and Mrs, W. Brydges. Woman's Association Mrs. (Rev,) Moores was hostess to the members of the Women's Assoc- when the final meeting of the year Assoc- ation on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4th, 1 was held. The President, Mrs. Herb Wheeler, presided and opened the meeting with a devotional period followed by the various reports which bespoke a very successful year had been realized. Correspondence in- cluded a letter from the Dominion Woman's Association council regard- ing the building of a new United Church training school and asking that a committee he named from the various congregations of the Pres- bytery . Mrs. Earl Anderson, Pres., of the W.M.S., and Mrs. Lyle Hopper, Pres., of the W.A. and Mr. Harold Vincent, chairman of the Board of Stewards, were appointed to act in $. this capacity. A contribution was trsij made to the Evening Auxiliary, to g: the choir, and to the gift fund of the Afternoon Auxiliary of the W.M.S. Mrs. F. Cook and Mrs. L. Hopper offered a wicker basket to be used for the white gift basket service in the church. A committee of Mrs. F. Cook, Mrs. H. Wheeler, Mrs, L, Hopper, Mrs J Wheeler offered to prepare baskets. The worship ser- vice opened with the call to worship and the hymn "Angels from the es Realms of Glory" followed by repeat- k ing "The Magnificat"in unison. Mrs. Ey Wightman, Mrs. J. Walsh, Mrs. W. to Armstrong and Mrs. Clifton Walsh on presented a lovely candle-lighting 1,7, service, The first candle was lit for the Jewish race into which JOSU5 was kif born; the second for our Canadian i eiD9 Indians; the third for the good will Vas and friendship of the French Can- adians; the fourth for those ancestors who came from the far-off lands; the fifth for all new-corners to Canada from war devastated lands of Europe; the sixth for Christian love, All join- Ki ed in singing several carols. These slides will be in color. Sunday evening, December 23rd at Belgrave, the members of the YP,T,./. will put on a dramatization of the Christmas Carol, "Silent Night". HU ON MOTORS :$. "White Gift" services wore featur- ed last Sunday at both Belgrave and 13rick United Churches. In the morn- ing at Belgrave representatives of both boys' and girls' organizations took part in the service, Glenn Coul- tes and Clayton Wilkinson of the Trail Rangers read the Scriptures, while four girls, Lois Goll, Da Pen- golly, Bernice Adams and Marilyn Moores brought the gifts to the front of the church for dedication. A surprise was sprung on the con- gregation on Sunday morning. When they arrived at church they found lovely Christmas carols being played from a record player attached to the organ. This feature was a presenta- tion to the church by members of the cast of the play, The minister, on behalf of the congregation, accepted this gift and thanked the members of the east. Everyone who hasn't heard it, come out on the following Sundays and enjoy the lovely Christmas music. The choir will also provide special music for these Sundays leading uP to Christmas, Sunday, December 16th. Services at the usual hours in the morning and afternoon, 11 and 2.30. At the Brick Church in the after- noon we hope to "turn on the lights". The hydro recently installed will he used for the first time next Sunday. There will be a brief ceremony in connection with this event, Sunday evening next at Belgrave the C.G.I.T. girls under the leadership of Mrs. Ross Anderson, will hold a Vesper and Candlelight.
