Sacred Heart
Sodality Meets
The Young Ladies' Sodality of Sac-
red Heart Church held their Decem-
ber meeting in the parish hall with 17
members attending. Plans for 1952
meetings were made and various
committees appointed. At the present
time the young ladies are conducting
a raffle on two lovely boudoir dolls,
on display in Walker's Home Furnish-
ings, as their first money-making ven-
ture for this newly-organized group.
The dolls will be drawn for on De-
cember 16th at the parish Christmas
concert, which members are conduct-
ing in conjunction with the Catholic
Women's League.
Margaret Brophy gave a very in-
teresting paper on the life of Father
Charles B. Lanphier and the On-
tario Catholic Hour which is heard
each Sunday on the CBC network at
12.15. In April 1933, six years after
his ordination to the priesthood, Fa-
ther Lanphier became the world's
first religious newscaster with his
"Newscast and Review in Religion"
every Sunday. Today, Father Lan-
phier, Director of the Radio League
of St. Michael, is in his 18th year of
broadcasting, and his voice has be-
come familiar to thousands of listen-
ers across Canada and the United
States.
Father Lanphier feels that the best
days are yet to come. He has said
that it is a great and wonderful age
we are living in and that if men
could only keep peace, the world
would be on its greatest upsurge in
all recorded history, of greater social
justice for all, a better life, and a tre-
mendous spread of Christianity all
over the world, Such are the dreams
and hopes of a parish priest who has
gained recognition as one of Amer-
ica's leading radio priests.
The next meeting of the Sodality
will be held Monday, January 7th.
