NEWS OF WHITECHURCH
MY, John MacMillan of Lucknow,
and formerly a resident of Kinloss,
passed away on Wednesday last in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr.
MacMillan has been ill for the past
two years, and spent many weeks in
the hospital, He was a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Mylis MacMillan, and
of their family of thirteen children,
eleven, with their wives and families
survive. Over thirty-five years ago
he married Miss May Morrison, who
survives. To them were born ',our
children, Mylis at home, and Lavergne
at University in Detroit, Miss Yvonne
MacMillan, Reg, N, and Miss Patricia,
nurse-in-training, both in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London.
The funeral was held on Saturday
morning from his home at Lucknow
to the Roman Catholic Church at
Teeswater with interment in the
Roman Catholic Cemetery there. The
services were in charge of Rev. Fr.
Brick of Teeswater, assisted by Rev.
Fr. Myers of Riversdale, and Rev.
Fr. Toth of St, Augustine, with Rev.
Fr. Durand of Wingham, also present.
The pallbearers were, John Gillies,
Scott Paterson, John Henderson, Al-
phonse Murray, Archie McKinnon and
Mr. Thos. Conway, Livestock Ci.mmis-
sioner of Toronto.
Mr. MacMillan, like his father, was
a cattle and hog buyer in this ilis-
trict for many years, hence, was wide-
ly known, and his many friends ex-
tend sympathy to his bereaved wife
and family.
Monday evening at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. James Falconer, with an
attendance of 26. The two groups,
after discussing the topic of th,4 even-
ing, decided that the social Chat !Wed
a real need in country canine , ities
and that undue prominence was sel-
dom given to tne card games which
so many enjoyed. Few belonged to
either of the two libraries in this dis-
trict. The local Institute provided
many varied, short educational cours-
es. The St. John's Ambulance course
ran for six weeks in Wingham r ,st fall
and the Juniqr Farmers have had
many demonstrations in safety laws
for driving, all lines of farm machin-
ery and farm accounting. Luncheon
was served and a social time was en-
joyed.
DONNYBROOK
The W.M,S. and W. A. will meet
at the home of Mrs. Wm. Hardy on
Tuesday, December 11th. The Presi-
dent, Mrs. H. Jefferson, will be in
charge of the meeting and, the W. A.
are having a sale of baking, candy
and other articles. As this is the
annual meeting it is hoped there will
be a good attendance,
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thompson
were guests at the Teusley-Thompson
wedding on Saturday at Listowel,
Mr. and Mrs. 11, Jefferson and fam-
ily were Sunday visitors at the home
of her parents, Mre. and Mrs. Geo.
Thornton at Bluevale.
Mrs. Olive Allen of Clinton, was a
recent visitor with her sister, Mrs.
R. Chamney,
Mrs. Mary Walsh has gone to Code-
rich for the winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. J, C, Robinson of
Wingharn, were Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs, Edw. Robinson,

Mr. Thos. Morrison and Mr. John
Morrison motored to Windsor on Sun-
day and their father, Mr, J. B. Mor-
rison accompanied them and stayed
to spend the winter months at the
home of Mr. and Mrs, Victor Case-
more.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Maclnnis and
family of Toronto, spent the week-
end at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Chester Casemore and other Mac-
Innis relatives in Kinloss.
Mr, and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor, Mr,
and Mrs. Chas. Robinson, Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Robinson and Mr. rhos.
Robinson attended the wedding recep-
tion for Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pater-
son, who were celebrating their thir-
ty-fifth wedding anniversary hi the
Community Hall, at Auburn on Fri-
day evening last. Mrs. Patterson was
formerly Jean Beadle, a niece of Mr.
Thos. Robinson,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mason and
Keith of Kincardine, spent Sunday at
the home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Mason.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hayes, who had
been visiting last week with Tiffin
relatives in Kinloss, left on Friday
for their home in Detroit. They spent
Thursday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Emerson,
Mr. Bill Parker of London, visited
on Sunday at 'the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ben McClenaghan, Johnny end
David Parker, who had been staying
here with their grandparents for the
past two weeks returned home to
London.
Mrs. George McClenaghan met with
a very painful accident last Wednes-
day. She was crossing her polished
kitchen floor, when she slipped,
throwing out her arm to sa ie her-
self from falling, her arm fell strare•ht
across the top of the front of the
hot stove, and the flesh from the
wrist to above the elbow of the left
arm, was left on the stove. She is
suffering from first, second and third
degree burns.
Mr. Gordon McGee made a business
trip to Kitchener on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Mason Robinson and
sons, spent Sunday at the home of her I
brother, Mr. Ralph Cameron of Ash-
field.

Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Purdon of Belgrave.
Miss Mary Foster and Mr. Billie
Fisher of Mitchell, spent the we ek-
end at the home of his parents, Mr.

Mr. Ross Anderson of Belgrave, has
been busy during the past week wir-
ing Brick Church.

Mrs .George L. Walker Passes
Mrs. George L .Walker, formerly
Miss Jennie Williamson of Walton,
passed away last Tuesday at the
home of her daughter, Mrs ,Jas. Eas-
ton of Grimsby, in her eightieth
year. Mr. and Mrs. Walker made their
home for some years after their mar-
riage on the McNeal farm on the
12th of East Wawanosh. Her husband
predeceased her about ten years ago.
One son, Harvey of Winona, and her
daughter, Mrs. (Bessie) Easton, sur-
vive. Mr. and Mrs. George Walker
of E. Wawanosh and Mr, Thos, Wil-
liamson of Walton, attended the fun-
eral from the home of Mrs. Easton,
on Thursday last, to Grimsby ceme-
tery, with the pastor of the Grimsby
United Church officiating.
Mrs. Robert Purdon and Mrs. Gor-
don Rintoul and son, Brian, left on
Monday to visit with the former's
mother, Mrs. Archie Anderson, in
Montreal.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lewis of
Grimsby, spent the week-end et the
home of her father, Mr. F. McK. Pat-
erson. Mr. Scott Paterson of Detroit,
also spent the week-end here, to at-
tend the funeral of the late John

Millan of Lucknow, Mr. LaVergne
MacMillan accompanied him back to
Detroit.
Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Watt return-
ed' home from Toronto last Tuesday,
and Dr. and Mrs. Donald Watt of Tor-
onto spent the week-end here.
Mr. James Falconer held a success-
ful sale at his home in E. Wawanosh
on Tuesday last.
Mrs. E. H. Groskorth, Paul and
Karen, have been laid up with a had
attack of flu, over the week-end.
Mrs. Robert Ross spent the week-
end in London at the home of Miss
Jean Campbell.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Johnston of
Lucknow, visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Caslick.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Robertson and
Jimmie, and Mr. -Adam Robertson,
also Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mcl3urney
and sons, spent Sunday at Coderich,
with Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Sturdy.
The monthly meeting of the L. A.
of the Presbyterian Church was held
on Tuesday last at the home of Mrs.
Gordon Elliott, with twelve ladies in
attendance, and with the president,
Mrs. Jas. Maclnnis, presiding. Miss
Annie Kennedy read the Scripture
lesson and Mrs. Dawson Craig led in
prayer. The election of officers was
then held, with Mrs. Conn presiding.
Mrs. Frank Coulter was appointed
president, for 1952, with Mrs. Caslick
as 1st. Vice, Mrs, Dawson Craig, sec.,
and Mrs. McIlrath, treas. There will be
no meeting in December, but the
January meeting will be held at the
home of Mrs Ezra Welwood. Lunch
was served and they all enjoyed the
social half-hour.

children of E. Wawanosh, spent Sun-
day at the borne of her sister, Mrs.
Russell Ross,
Mr. Bailie Parrott of Blyth, visited
on Tuesday last with his aunt, Mrs.

Mr. Ernest Walker and Mr. Maur-
