United Church W.M.S.
A large number of members and
visitors attended the Thank-offering
meeting of the Woman's Missionary
Society in Wingham United Church
on Tuesday, Mrs. Roulston had
charge of the meeting and the de-
votions were taken by Miss M. Turn-
er' and Mrs. Hiseler. A Thanksgiv-
ing reading was given by Mrs.
Cosens. The guest speaker was Mrs.
Street from Kincardine who chose as
her subject, "God's purpose for our
lives". She read part of the aim of
the W.M.S, which says we must work
to extend God's Kingdom in the
home, the community, in Canada and
throughout the world. Mrs. Street
gave ideas of what could be done by
our members in all these avenues
of service, especially remembering the
strangers who come to us. She said
that we believe in a Christlike Can-
ada, but do we believe in a Christlike
world? Mrs. Gowans expressed the
thanks of the meeting to Mrs. Street
for her inspiring message. A trio,
"Open our Eyes", sung by Mrs. Geo.
Guest, Mrs. Wm. McCool and Mrs. C.
Blythe with Mrs. W. W. Currie at the
piano, was much appreciated.
The President, 'leers. G. N. Under-
wood conducted the business. Mrs.

Home, thanking the W.M.S. for many
kindnesses and enclosing their Thank
Offerings. New members were in-
troduced and visitors welcomed. At
the close of the meeting the Social
Committee served lunch,
TIME TO SMILE—
Coming upon a football which the
farmer's son had brought back from
school, the rooster promptly called the
hens around him. "Now, ladies," he
said diplomatically, "I don't want to
appear ungrateful, or raise any un-
necessary fuss, but I do want you to
see what's being done in other yards."
